Toss The Diet — We’re Talking A Year Of Healthy Eating
There’s a pesky four-letter word we are on a mission to banish from every girl’s vocabulary. Any guesses? We’ll give you a hint. It starts with *d* + ends with *iet.* That’s right, we have a very strong dislike for diets. According to Merriam-Webster, a diet is *a regimen of eating + drinking sparingly so as to reduce one’s weight.* ….Sigh.
As all CHAARGies know, being fit, healthy + happy is not about a finite eating plan [aka diet] that you use to reach a goal + then revert back to your usual eating habits. No, being the best versions of ourselves requires a lifestyle change — a plan of action you continually monitor, adjust + enjoy to boost your health, confidence + happiness. You have to be in it for the long haul if you’re embarking on a lifestyle change. But trust us, the results will be far more significant if you make the commitment, instead of relying on yo-yo dieting to make you happier + healthier for a few short weeks at a time [which at it’s core, is really not healthy at all].
We’re outlining how your body changes over the course of a year when you truly commit to a lifestyle change of eating healthy + wholesome foods.
AFTER ONE DAY
Some might say the first day is the easiest. You’ve set a goal + gosh darnit, you’re going to achieve it! With a fire lit within you to commit to a healthy lifestyle once + for all, you might notice those 10 a.m. + 3 p.m. hunger pains go away. Healthy food fuels your body much more efficiently than your previous diet, leaving you less hungry between meals. You’ll cut your cravings for sugar + salt in half ++ have a mental clarity so sharp you’ll wonder why you didn’t quit the junk food sooner. ++ don’t worry, just because you’re eating healthy doesn’t mean you won’t be satisfied. It’s amazing how much food you can eat when it’s wholesome, nutritious + delicious.
AFTER ONE WEEK
Seven days in + you’re feeling better than ever. Your energy levels are soaring — partially because you’re sleeping better + partially because the foods you’re consuming are energy-rich. By this time, you find that you enjoy [+ maybe even crave] your healthy snacks + meals. By slashing high sodium foods from your diet, your body will begin to release the water it was retaining ++ leave you feeling slimmer + less bloated. You might even find that you have less mood swings + feel more #inCHAARG of your life than ever before.
AFTER ONE MONTH
By this point, you might be feeling hungrier — but never fear! It’s a good sign. Your metabolism may be speeding up from regularly eating healthy foods. If you stuck with your healthy eating plan up to this point, it has become a habit. Making smart eating choices should feel more like second nature, rather than a chore. You’re enjoying your #sweatsesh on a daily basis because your body is properly fueled. ++ don’t worry about your usual makeup routine. A month of eating a wholesome diet leaves your skin with a healthy, natural glow.
AFTER SIX MONTHS
*It’s goin’ down, yo* — your cholesterol + blood pressure levels, that is ; ) [assuming they were on the high side to begin with]. Your bones will be thanking you as they become stronger + stronger, reducing your risk of stress fractures + breaks during those intense workouts. You’ll be under control of your blood glucose levels, reducing blood sugar fluctuations [which in the past made you hungry, tired + irritable] + your risk for diabetes.
AFTER A YEAR
What a great year it’s been! You’re so happy + healthy that you finally understand why so many before you committed to the healthy lifestyle. You’re reaping all of the health benefits listed above + enjoying life.
