We all know life is crazy as a full-time student + you’re busy with running from classes to meetings, studying each night + of course, fitting in a daily #sweatsesh. So when summer finally hits + your schedule frees up a little bit [hopefully!] you can breathe a little easier + take your day at a more leisurely pace.
That is… until you graduate + start working full-time. Enjoy your summers off while you can, because unfortunately they disappear in post-grad life. I always told myself that when I graduated, my workout schedule wouldn’t be hard to maintain + I thought it’d be easier to stay motivated + find time to workout. I hate to say that I was wrong.
That’s not to say it’ll be like this for everyone + I hope it’s different for you! However, when you’re out of the house for 8+ hours five days a week, doing a lot of sitting + using a ton of brain power [which is more exhausting than one may think] — your motivation to workout can escape you. But that’s where we come in. ; )
We want to help out our post-grad #VirtCHAARG girls as best we can, so we’ve got some tips to help your stay motivated, even after a long day at the office.
1] ACCEPT THAT YOU MAY NEED TO SHORTEN YOUR WORKOUT
When the majority of your day is spent at work, your favorite hour+ long #sweatsesh may not work with your schedule. With errands to run, friends to see + sleep to catch up on, 30-45 minute workouts are much more realistic. This is tough to accept at first + may even lead you to think *this isn’t worth it.* DON’T THINK THAT. Any time you spend moving + taking care of your body is always worth it. Thankfully, every #sweatsesh in the #CHAARGBOOTYCAMP takes only 45 minutes!
2] DON’T UNDO ALL OF THE HARD WORK YOU’VE PUT IN
Whether you’ve been into fitness for just a few months or as long as a few years, you’ve dedicated that time to making yourself healthier + happier. You don’t want to undo all of that progress! Keep in mind how far you’ve come + where you’d like to go to motivate yourself to stay on track.
3] KEEP WORKING TOWARD YOUR GOALS
Remember all the way back in January when we made new goals for 2015? It’s time for another check-in. Look back at your list + see what’s still left unfinished. Have you started training for that 10k yet? Have you tried that awesome outdoor workout you found in the spring? Use the goals you’ve yet to accomplish as your motivation to continue making time for your workouts.
4] SET NEW GOALS FOR YOURSELF
Maybe you’ve stayed on top of things + already accomplished all of the fitness-related goals on your list. If that’s the case, now’s the perfect time to make some new ones! Whether you want to start lifting heavier, train for a summer race, or just make sure to #sweataday — setting new goals will fuel your fire to keep going.
5] TURN TO YOUR ACCOUNTABILITY BUD
If you don’t have one [or multiple!], sign up! There are 2,000+ CHAARG girls by your side to help keep you on track. This community is here to help each other as much as possible, so use it to its fullest potential! Remember, you always get what you put into it.
6] MAKE A MOTIVATION BOARD
It’s amazing how many resources are right at our fingertips with the internet. When you’re just not feelin’ it, sit down + make yourself a motivational board on Pinterest filled with quotes + quick + effective workouts to do at home. You can even print pictures + quotes or cut them out of magazines + tack ’em on a cork board. Either way, make sure to connect with CHAARG on Pinterest if you haven’t already for an extra dose of motivation!
7] PARTICIPATE IN A CHAARG FITPLAN
Participating in a CHAARG FitPlan is one of the best sources of motivation! There’s something about doing the same workouts with ONE THOUSAND other girls that really motivates you — it’s an indescribable feeling! If you didn’t sign up for the #CHAARGBOOTYCAMP — no worries — but you definitely want to participate in the next CHAARG FitPlan [it will come out in September!].
8] UTILIZE ANY + ALL FORMS OF CHAARG
The CHAARG community + all of our resources are the ultimate motivators! From the daily blog posts, to the CHAARG Facebook, Twitter,+ Pinterest pages. Of course, the CHAARG insta + the thousands of #inCHAARG insta accounts — at least one post, tweet, or photo will boost your motivation + keep you on track!
