You will soon put on your cap + gown + make your way across the stage. All of those years coming down to this moment. You’ll think about how these four years flew by — yet, how you accomplished so much + had so many memories along the way: dozens of all nighters, late night eats, tears of joy + sadness, + laughing with your lifelong friends.
Then, you’ll remember something very special. Something you never thought would mean so much to you — that little blue bolt.
Alyssa said it best, “From the outside, it’s hard to understand. From the inside, it’s hard to explain.” How can you explain to someone how much a little blue bolt means to you? This bolt doesn’t just represent the unique fitness classes you tried each week, or the FitPlan workouts you crushed — no, it means so much more. That bolt represents not only your personal struggles//triumphs, but those of the 2,500+ girls who are right behind you — every step of the way. The bolt represents hard work, dedication, confidence, strength, empowerment, positivity, friendship, laughter. That little blue bolt is CHAARG.
Thinking back to freshman year, you had always hoped you’d find something you’d fit in with. Going to a big school is overwhelming + knowing you won’t be with those same people from your high school was a scary thought. Looking back, you wish you could tell your little freshman-self that you will grow in unbelievable ways throughout the next four years. You’ll do things you never thought you’d do + you’ll accomplish more than you ever thought possible. From running backwards on the treadmill to finding the courage to sign up for your first 5K [+ then half, + then triathalon] to truly believing that you are beautiful — you are enough — you owe it to this community.
You found your passion in life. You found your fit. You feel so grateful that you are a part of a community [a family!] that gets you — every day you inspire + are inspired by the fearless women surrounding you, in person + virtually. This is where you belong.
At graduation [+ even this week leading up to it!], you’ll be mixed with emotion. While you’ll feel excited to start a new chapter in your life — the sad realization is that you are also closing a lot of chapters: greek life, finishing school forever [well, unless you are going to grad school ; )], moving away, leaving friends, etc. ++ honestly, you might be terrified [that’s normal!].
But, then you’ll smile + remember: You will always have your CHAARG family by your side — wherever life takes you. While your time as a *university chapter member* may be coming to an end, your time as a CHAARG member is absolutely not over! The Virtual CHAARG Community is waiting for you with open arms. You’ll be able to connect with fellow CHAARG members in your new city + life. CHAARG isn’t just something you’re a member of for four years — it’s a lifestyle + something you’ll hold onto for many years to come!
To all my graduating seniors: we are so proud of you. We are so thankful for you. We LOVE you! Thank you for being an inspiration to us all + being the perfect example of strong, confident women. Never forget that you have the ability to change the world. [+ we already are — together ; ).]
THE WORLD NEEDS DREAMERS + THE WORLD NEEDS DOERS, BUT ABOVE ALL, THE WORLD NEEDS DREAMERS WHO DO. THE WORLD NEEDS YOU.
Now, go out there + SHAKE THE WORLD.
