Golden Milk Latte: The Turmeric Trend
A latte with golden what? A golden milk latte doesn’t have any caffeine, but it is packed with plenty other ayurvedic [traditional Hindu medicinal practice based on the idea of balance] benefits from the main ingredient — turmeric. Curcumin, the main active compound in turmeric, is CHAARGed [; )] with antioxidants + anti-inflammatory qualities. Incorporating turmeric in your diet can reduce inflammation throughout your body + lower risk of diseases. Turmeric is a common spice used in many Indian//Asian dishes, so definitely experiment with adding it to other foods as well!
The golden milk latte is easy to make + you can add extra ingredients to cater to your taste preferences. So get ready to head to your nearest spice aisle + get to creating your own golden milk latte at home —
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups Milk of Choice [2%, Almond, or Coconut]
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tsp Sweetener [Honey or Maple Syrup]
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- Pinch of Ground Ginger
- Pinch of Black Pepper [This will help you more easily absorb all the curcumin goodness in the turmeric!]
*Vanilla Extract // Coconut Oil, if desired [vanilla extract will add extra sweetness + coconut oil will help with digestion [++ all the other wonderful benefits of coconut oil ; )]
DIRECTIONS
#1] Heat the milk in a saucepan over low or medium heat + add in all other ingredients until mixed well + warm.
#2] Transfer your warm Golden Milk over to a blender + mix until frothy like a latte!
#3] At this point you can add more honey or vanilla//coconut oil for taste if you wish.
#4] Pour into your favorite mug ++ enjoy!
