Cheesy Garlic Protein Popcorn
Popcorn is one of my go-to snacks — it’s crunchy + salty + takes less than five mins to make – what’s not to love! You might be thinking, hey — what’s with this nutritional yeast stuff? YEP. It does sound weird. But — it’s packed full of the good stuff [protein//vitamins//minerals//fiber] + it tastes like cheese! This stuff has some serious potential. I have never actually felt full after eating popcorn…until now. Enjoy!
Don’t believe that nutritional yeast is all it cracks up to be? Read up on its nutritional facts here [thanks, Alexa!]
- 3 tbsp Popcorn Kernels
- ½ tsp Garlic Powder
- 2 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast
- Salt + Pepp [to taste!]
- 1 Brown Paper Bag [the kind you used to take your lunch to school in back in the day ; ) ]
#1] Add the popcorn kernels to the brown paper bag + roll the top down a few times. Stick the bag in the microwave for 2:30-3 mins, or until there are about 2 seconds between pops.
#2] Empty the popcorn into a large bowl. [*bonus*- you can sift out the un-popped kernels + microwave them again!]
#3] Spritz the popcorn with a lil’ water — optional, but its helps the seasonings stick. Sprinkle on the nutritional yeast, garlic powder, + season with salt+pepper to taste. I recommend spritzing + sprinkling in a couple layers so the seasonings don’t fall to the bottom!
#4] Lastly, ENJOY! : ) You can enjoy now, or pack in a bag for later! Or better yet — enjoy while watching a movie [Isn’t that just the best?]
