CHAARG On… No Matter What

Regardless if your university is starting the fall with in person events + classes or has gone completely virtual, CHAARG is not cancelled. With everything going on in the world — being a part of an empowering, supportive, + wellness based community is more important now than ever.

What will my CHAARG membership look like this year?

All CHAARG Chapters will be following the guidelines set forth from their university in order to keep everyone healthy. While this will mean social distancing, more outdoor + virtual events, + masks, it also means there will be more opportunities to work out with women from across the country, to workout from your dorm or apartment, + to still meet new people from your campus. This year is an opportunity to be creative in how we connect with each other + still show everyone else on campus what it means to be #inCHAARG.

Below are a few updates of how your Chapter may look differently this fall:

Weekly Workouts

  • These will be following all guidelines set forth by your university. If your university is primarily virtual, then your Weekly Workouts will be primarily virtual, too. If your university is permitting in person classes or events ++ the exec team believes they can provide these while maintaining the utmost safety of all members, then those will be offered in addition to streaming virtual workouts.
  • Prior to attending any in-person event for CHAARG, you’ll answer questions that confirm you haven’t been exposed or exhibited symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 14 days. If you have, you are not allowed to attend that event.
    • In the last 2 weeks: Have you experienced any cold or flu-like symptoms [to include fever, cough, sore throat, respiratory illness, or difficulty breathing]?
    • In the last 2 weeks: Have you had close contact with or cared for someone diagnosed with COVID-19?
    • In the last 2 weeks: Have you be in, or been in close contact with someone who has been in an area that is currently under a shelter in place order or currently under a US travel ban restriction?
  • If you test positive for COVID-19, once you are cleared to attend classes in-person again [per your university’s policies on testing positive for COVID-19], you are cleared to come back to CHAARG events.
  • The great news about Weekly Workouts having a virtual component? There will be enough spots for you to attend every workout!

Small Groups

  • These will also be following all guidelines set forth by your university + campus rec center.
  • All Small Groups will be less than 10 people so that if it is safe to meet in person to work out [preferably outside during the warmer weeks of school].
  • Don’t feel comfortable meeting up with people or not coming back to campus? Your exec team will also have virtual Small Group options so that you can still be a part of a Small Group!

Socials

  • These will also be following all guidelines + policies set forth by your university.
  • Depending on what your university guidelines are, there will be a mixture of in-person, small socials as well as virtual socials to stay in touch + get to know new people at your school!

How Will Carpools Look With COVID-19?

Best practices for carpooling to an event include:

  • Masks in car. Any event where girls are carpooling together should wear masks!
  • Open windows when possible.
  • Wash your hands before + after using the car.
  • If possible, only carpool with your Small Group or members that you already have seen or been near within the past 2 weeks.
  • Do not use the middle seat of cars.

What If Someone In Our Chapter Tests Positive For COVID-19?

  • We are following all guidelines issued by the CDC + the guidance for US Institutions of Higher Education. You can read their guidance here.
  • Anytime someone tests positive for COVID-19 their local Health Department will give them guidance + next steps, including asking them + any close contacts to stay home. Please keep in mind that anytime someone tests positive for COVID-19 their confidentiality will be maintained as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act + the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, as applicable.
  • Exec leaders take attendance at any in-person event [Weekly Workouts, Small Groups, etc]. Any person that had exposure to the member who tested positive will be notified by the Health Department. They will be asked to follow all guidelines issued by their University as well as their local health department.
  • If you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, we ask that you do not come to any CHAARG events [+ self-quarantine] for up to 2 weeks or after receiving a negative COVID-19 test. Please follow all university guidelines + directions from your local Health Department!

What will my CHAARG membership look like this year?

Still happening. These will be following all guidelines set forth by your university. If your university is primarily virtual, then your Weekly Workouts will be primarily virtual too [streamed through zoom]. If your university has in person components + options ++ the exec team feels it’s safe to offer those too, then those will be offered in addition to the streaming workouts. The great news? There will be enough spots for you to attend every workout!

Prior to attending any in person events this fall, your exec team will be confirming the following with you via the Eventbrite link you use to sign up for that event. If you answer yes to any of these questions, you should not attend the event.

In the last 2 weeks:

  • Have you experienced any cold or flu-like symptoms [to include fever, cough, sore throat, respiratory illness, or difficulty breathing]?
    Yes or No
  • Have you had close contact with or cared for someone diagnosed with COVID-19?
    Yes or No
  • Have you be in, or been in close contact with someone who has been in an area that is currently under a shelter in place order or currently under a US travel ban restriction?
    Yes or No

Of course! These will also be following all guidelines set forth by your university + campus rec center. All Small groups will be less than 10 people so that if it is safe to meet in person to work out [preferably outside during the warmer weeks of school] that you can meet up still + be in accordance with the policies your university has set. Don’t feel comfortable meeting up with people or not coming back to campus? Your exec team will also have virtual Small Group options so that you can still be a part of a Small Group!

Still happening. Depending on what your university guidelines are, there will be a mixture of in-person, small socials as well as virtual socials to stay in touch + get to know new people at your university!

Your CHAARG experience is going to look a little different this fall — but you’ll still get all the same #CHAARGfeels as you have in the past. No matter what happens. No matter what your university plans or decisions are for the upcoming year; know this: CHAARG will still be here. Your CHAARG Chapter is going to be ready for you [+ COVID-19] this fall ++ we still can’t wait to sweat with you [either in the zoom room or 6 feet apart on campus ; )].
