Bootycamp: Members Share Everything You Need to Know

Another summer means another #CHAARGOOTYCAMP! We reached out to some members who *crushed* last year’s Bootycamp to provide some information + motivation to kick off the FitPlan this year. These tips + stories will help you stay focused + happy during this year’s CHAARG Bootycamp!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT BOOTYCAMP?

Keeping me on an easy + fun workout schedule during the summer! Even with working full-time, it’s a great way to get a sweat sesh in.

HOW DID YOU MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO DO IT EVERYDAY?

For me, it’s all about setting my alarm every morning + making sure I go ++ do it! That way, I start off the day feeling energized + on track.

HOW DID YOU HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE?

Definitely posting on my CHAARG Instagram everyday!

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR THOSE DOING BOOTYCAMP THIS YEAR?

Don’t hesitate to do it — I have never regretted doing Bootycamp or any other FitPlans : ) Keep yourself motivated in whatever way works best for you + have fun with it! If you fall behind, don’t let that discourage you. Just pick up where you left off — it happens to all of us!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT BOOTYCAMP?

I loved Bootycamp because it set my schedule for me! Having set workouts to do each day was super helpful for me.

HOW DID YOU MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO DO IT EVERYDAY?

I signed up for the daily email reminders that CHAARG offers. I also had my mom join in on the fun — she’s my gym buddy while I’m home + she motivates me to get out of the house to complete the workout!

HOW DID YOU HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE?

My CHAARG Instagram was *super* helpful in holding myself accountable. I set up an Instagram story highlight so that I could track my progress! Accountability buddies were also great — from other girls on insta doing the bootycamp, to the Bootycamp FaceBook group, it was great to have a bunch of women to help me stay up to date with the workouts!

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR THOSE DOING BOOTYCAMP THIS YEAR?

Make sure you are prepared to go all in! It can be hard to fully commit to the Bootycamp, so make sure you have someone to hold you accountable. Bootycamp can be hard, but it’s also super rewarding, so make sure to track your progress to see all of the awesome stuff you’re doing during the process!

It teaches me new workouts + gives me a way to stay active during the summer!

Working out makes me feel so much better about my day, so I always looked forward to the feeling of completing a daily workout!

I used my CHAARG Instagram to track my progress + planned to do the workouts with a friend in advance.

Have fun with it! Working out is a privilege — not a chore. Find any way to complete the workouts that make you feel lucky to be able to do them!

Looking through my CHAARG Instagram feed to see all of the other girls doing the workouts.

HOW DID YOU HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE?

Keeping track of everything in my bullet journal + posting on my CHAARG Instagram every time I completed a workout.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR THOSE DOING BOOTYCAMP THIS YEAR?

Don’t beat yourself up if you miss workouts —  just make them up on weekends, especially the strength ones because they’re SO worth it! But, either way, always remember that rest days are okay! Also, definitely screenshot each workout so that you have workout options after Bootycamp ends + if you can’t decide on a workout yourself!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT BOOTYCAMP?

I loved the variety of the workouts + that it was over the summer. Not many CHAARG girls stay in Auburn over the summer, so the Bootycamp kept me motivated to continue working out, which was hard because I was still a full time student + working a part time job!

HOW DID YOU MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO DO IT EVERYDAY?

I motivated myself by getting in contact with the Auburn CHAARG girls that were in town + setting up times to work out together ++ sending each other positive vibes to motivate one another! I also planned out my workouts + looked to other CHAARG girls on Instagram to motivate myself on the days that I felt like I didn’t have 45 minutes to get a workout in.

HOW DID YOU HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE?

I mainly held myself accountable by posting on my CHAARG Instagram + scheduling my workouts in my planner! I honestly couldn’t imagine not scheduling my workouts. Sometimes, you may miss a day or have to push back the time, but that’s perfectly fine. Just try to save that workout for a weekend or even for the end of Bootycamp!

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR THOSE DOING BOOTYCAMP THIS YEAR?

My tip for this upcoming Bootycamp would be scheduling your workouts! Instead of just having it in your head that you are going to workout at a certain time, write it out in your planner. That being said, I think the biggest tip I have is to find what works for you! For example, I tried to complete most of my workouts at night because I know what works best for my body — I injured my back almost 9 years ago, + I know that my back is going to be extremely tight ++ painful throughout the workout if I do it in the morning. I need about 3 or 4 hours after waking up before I feel ready to workout. I would not like to workout as much as I do if I had not learned this about myself. So, it’s important to find what works best for you!

I love that you can do the workouts just about anywhere — even on vacation! Trying new workout locations is a great way to stay motivated, too.

HOW DID YOU MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO DO IT EVERYDAY?

It’s hard to find motivation every day, but starting my day with a workout every morning definitely helped! The routine helped me stick with it + I started every morning with more energy!

HOW DID YOU HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE?

I stayed active on my CHAARG Instagram by posting about my workouts every week! It was a great way to stay accountable + see my progress throughout the Bootycamp. Plus, you can support other girls doing the Bootycamp + get inspired by their posts!

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR GIRLS DOING BOOTYCAMP THIS YEAR?

Something that I learned from the book Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis [highly recommend you read it!] that really stuck with me is to honor your promises to yourself. When you decide to do the CHAARG Bootycamp, don’t let yourself off the hook halfway through + give up. It’s an easy thing to do, but you deserve the respect of committing six weeks to yourself + finishing strong! You are worth it, so dedicate those 45 minutes each day to honoring that promise to yourself. You’ve got this!!!
