Another CHAARG FitPlan is here *cue ecstatic jumping + happy tears*! CHAARG FiPlans are my favorite time of semester + an incredible motivator to keep working towards our fitness goals — TOGETHER. I cannot wait to sweat//inspire with each + every one of y’all! This FitPlan is our largest yet — ONE THOUSAND GIRLS [ah!] + we want to make sure that you get the best out of your experience.
As a member who has participated in 4 [yes…I said FOUR…] FitPlans I’d consider myself an expert ; ) If you have read my journey on the Fall FitPlan, you’d know that it was my favorite by far — it wasn’t because of the incredible prizes, or the booty burin’ workouts — it was because of the CHAARG community. I have never been so supported by so many girls, most of which I had never even met! These girls inspired me to push myself a little harder + go a little further each//every single day.
Without this incredible community I firmly believe I would not have gotten what I did out of the FitPlan. I learned to believe in myself + push myself farther than I ever thought possible. I learned to let go of my fears + be the best version of myself. I focused on listening to my body + improving myself in all aspects of my life. With the next CHAARG FitPlan upon us we wanted to share a few tips, a *how to guide* if you will, on how you can get the most out of this incredible experience… because ultimately, it’s all about YOU!
1] GET ORGANIZED + PLAN AHEAD
One of the excuses we use most often for not working out is lack of time. This FitPlan we are challenging you to *make time* for YOU. One of the best ways to do that is by getting organized. Organization is key when you are trying to balance a lot of things at once! I am the type of person that once I put something in my calendar — you best believe I’m gonna do it! The same goes for working out! Sit down a few days before the FitPlan starts + pull out all your schedules — work, school, social, extracurriculars, etc. Write it in your planner + find about an hour to an hour + a half you can devote to working out.
I typically do this by creating an excel doc [Monday – Friday | 6AM – 10PM] that includes color coding my classes, work, + weekly responsibilities. I am an extremely visual person so seeing my schedule layed out in front of me helps me find gaps throuhout my days. I use those gaps as a time I can head to the gym! ++ I even put when I eat throughout the day [side note: organizing schedules is one of my favorite things to do — if you ever need help please feel free to reach out at firstname.lastname@example.org!]. ++ each Sunday, Elisabeth sends out the newsletter with that week’s schedule + how long//what type of workouts we have that week. This is super helpful when you’re a busy person + helps you stay even more on top of your schedule!
2] SET A GOAL
No matter how big, small or silly — a goal’s a goal. Whether that’s to knock x amount of seconds off your one mile run, do every booty burn, or to participate in every challenge — set a goal! Having a goal will make you that much more motivated to crush it. When setting a goal make sure you are specific! Don’t set a goal that’s too vague! Instead of saying *during the FitPlan I am going to try to wake up early.* Try saying, *during the FitPlan I WILL wake up every day to workout at 6 AM + go to the gym!* This makes the goal extremely achievable + something you can monitor every day [thank you psyc class for that informative nugget of knowledge!].
3] GRAB A PARTNER TO HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE
You’ve heard it a billion times about how accountability is key to staying #inCHAARG of your health//fitness journey! ++ the CHAARG community is really just one huge accountability group! The FitPlan is going to be a challengingin — you are going to come across times when it just gets… difficult. You’re going to get burnt out + want to nap rather than go to the gym… THIS moment is exactly what having an accountability partner is all about! Having someone give you that extra push to #takeCHAARG + push yourself harder is the best way to power through another great workout!
4] IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE COMMUNITY
Speaking about being held accountable… what better way to stay focused during the FitPlan than to have 999 fellow CHAARG girls motivating you every day? The CHAARG community is an incredible one + the CHAARG FitPlan community is even more spectacular… use this to your advantage! Post on the FB secret wall that you all will be invited to, reach out to girls who inspire you, ask questions + BE THE INSPIRATION. Immersing yourself in the community is one of the greatest ways to truly get the most out of this experience!
5] PARTICIPATE IN THE CHALLENGES
CHAARG girls are *obviously* pros at taking on any challenge that comes our way + running with it! This FitPlan we are pairing up with some incredible sponsors that believe in our mission + want to see us all succeed! Engage even more with the CHAARG community + participate in the daily check in challenges! CHAARG designs these challenges to push you + help you step outside of you comfort zone + commit to the FitPlan. If we have to take a *sweaty selfie,* that means we have to get in our workout, right? [RIGHT] Besides, who doesn’t love the chance to win free stuff? *fist pump*
6] ASK THE PROS
Ahh Matt + Dave <3. We mentioned how much we love them, but of course – we’re gonna say it again! They are extremely important to the FitPlan itself but even more helpful throughout! Utilize them + pick their brains! Have a question about a modification for a workout, ask Matt. Site not working right, Dave’s your man! Don’t be afraid to reach out + ask any//all of the pressing questions you might have – this is what they are here for + they LOVE to help!
7] MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF
Taking on a new challenge [especially a health//fitness related one] can take a huge toll on a person mentally + physically. Remember not to overwork yourself + take time to focus on YOU [which is the whole point of this FitPlan right? ; )] Try keeping a journal during the FitPlan — write down how you feel after each workout + look at the progress week to week! Maybe take this five week journey as a time to read an inspiring book or two [Happiness Project!] — inspire//be inspired! Whatever it is, always remember that this FitPlan is for YOU + we want YOU to get the most of it! Remember to listen to your body — regardless of where you are in your fitness journey this FiPlan is made for you.
8] LET GO OF YOUR FEARS
I wish I could permanently removed *can’t* + *scared* from the English language. I ain’t kiddin’ [who’s with me?]. How often do we hold ourselves back because of a predetermined fear or apprehension? *I can’t bench press more than 45 lbs, I can’t run faster than 7.0 mph on the treadmill, I can’t lift 20 lb dumbbells, I can’t wake up that early, I can’t post that *before* pic on insta… what if I don’t improve?* But what if you do? What if you succeed//grow so much that you won’t be able to remember what it was like to be afraid?
These are all fears that we’ve told ourselves. ++ heck, these are all things I’ve told myself. Too many times I found myself not doing something because I was scared. Before the Fall FitPlan, I was terrified to run over 7.0 mph on the treadmill… why? What was I so afraid of? [Well there is the idea of falling off that freaks me out… a tad…] But, had I ever even tried? How//why was I holding myself back from this? The FitPlan is about letting go of those fears + pushing past them. It’s about creating a stronger, more confident you + shining bright for the world to see! Let go of your fears + believe in yourself — that way you can never say you didn’t try.
