As Told by 12 Girls: How Has Being a #VirtCHAARG Girl Impacted You?
The 2015-2016 school year hasn’t even *officially* started yet + we’re already 1000+ CHAARG girls strong! That’s AMAZING. We can’t wait to see this number climb as we get further into the semester. Something else were excited for? Seeing our Virtual CHAARG community grow! We’re already 400+ VirtCHAARG members strong — nearly doubling the number of VirtCHAARG girls from about a year ago ++ we have big plans to make this community even better this school year ; )
The CHAARG community continues to grow, but we are unique + you may not exactly be sure what it means to be a CHAARG girl//#inCHAARG or why becoming a member is worthwhile. As a Chapter member, these questions can easily be answered at campus events or by other CHAARG girls at your university, but it’s a bit different for our Virtual members. For the first time ever we opened up the BOOTYCAMP to non-CHAARG members + participating in the FitPlan or reading the journey stories may have given you a taste of what it’s like to be a Virtual CHAARG girl.
So — whether you’ve just heard about CHAARG + you want to learn a little more or you need a little convincing before you #JoinTheMovement — we’ve got ya covered ; ). Here’s what a handful of our members had to say about how their #VirtCHAARG membership has impacted them…
#1] Being a member of VirtCHAARG has been a breath of fresh air + life changing. I feel like I have a huge support system that is there for me through my life journey, no matter what the subject matter is [physical, mental, family, friends, etc.] — 24/7. I’m motivated every day to be the best version of myself + to motivate others as well by this amazing group of ladies. I’ve come out of my shell more than before + have met some amazing ladies along the way who I get to call my friends! // [@robyn__inchaarg]
#2] After graduating college, the VirtCHAARG community became even more important in my life. I was no longer surrounded by my friends, sorority — all of the groups I had created + joined while in school. Having the support system just a few clicks away has been truly transformative. “Adulting” is less scary when you have friends to share the experience, even if many miles apart. // [@jessicasmith_inchaarg]
#3] When I graduated from school I was frustrated with how I looked + felt after 4 years of eating terribly + not being very active. If I had looked to other sources of *fitness inspiration* I would be barely eating or moving in the hopes of looking like my *thinspiration*, but with VirtCHAARG, I’m inspired + motivated to be the healthiest, fittest version of myself rather than the *skinniest*. // [@inchaargofbbg]
#4] VirtCHAARG has given me a support system to fall back on. These girls accept you as you are + inspire you to be the best version of yourself. I don’t have a CHAARG Chapter at my school, so benefits of VirtCHAARG, like #BoltBabes, help connect me to other members. // [@jennag_inchaarg]
I FEEL LIKE I HAVE A HUGE SUPPORT SYSTEM THAT IS THERE FOR ME THROUGH MY LIFE JOURNEY, NO MATTER WHAT THE SUBJECT MATTER IS [PHYSICAL, MENTAL, FAMILY, FRIENDS, ETC.] — 24/7. I’M MOTIVATED EVERY DAY TO BE THE BEST VERSION OF MYSELF + TO MOTIVATE OTHERS AS WELL BY THIS AMAZING GROUP OF VIRTCHAARG LADIES.
#5] VirtCHAARG has pushed me to be more confident in who I am + exercise + eat healthy to make myself healthier in every way, not just to be skinnier or thinner. It’s really helped me keep the right attitude about fitness + not just be strive to lose weight, but to push myself in workouts to be stronger + healthier. // [@kt__inchaarg]
#6] As long as I can remember, I’ve disliked some part of my body. I would always start working out to try to fix what I didn’t like + give up after a few weeks of not seeing progress. Since I joined VirtCHAARG, I still get a little discouraged about not seeing immediate progress, but I feel so inspired by my fellow CHAARGies that I keep pushing forward. I’m slowly learning to love my body + improve my self-esteem, + it’s all thanks to the incredible women of VirtCHAARG. I think it’s amazing that a group of women whom I’ve never actually met in person can have such a profound positive effect on my life, + I’m so thankful for all of them. // [@sgrabar_inchaarg]
#7] Every morning I wake up + I am surrounded by awesome women who inspire me to push on + be #inCHAARG of my fitness goals! I feel encouraged by these women who, like me, want to better their lives for not only themselves, but for the people they love too! My purpose is to inspire others + help them understand that I have been there … I have been unhealthy, out of shape, + unhappy with my body. I am now happy, healthy, + always looking for new ways to be good to my body! I am not always looking to keep life sweet! I’m so thankful for my CHAARGies because without them, I would find my days cloudy + lacking sunshine. Being a member of CHAARG is the sunshine to a day in the life of The Fit Lemon ; ). // [@thefitlemon]
#8] With VirtCHAARG, I’m more able to reach out. Whether that means I’m struggling or someone else is, I’m beautifully aware of my role in others’ lives — to be vulnerable at times + to be strong in others. Fitness is just a vehicle for all of this, but I still feel so much more motivated that we aren’t *just* about the run, the lift, the yoga sesh. We’re also about what happens out of the gym, off the mat, + inside our own heads. I’m so much more aware of how I talk to myself + how I impact others through everything that I do. ++ I can say that even though this is a virtual community, it feels incredibly real. // [@fit_barbarian]
#9] Through VirtCHAARG, I have not only found my fit, but discovered the most amazing group of women + a support system like I’ve never experienced before. I can share in triumphs + struggles, PRs + moments of weakness, successes + failures. I never feel like I need to live up to a certain standard or expectation. Every CHAARG girl is so supportive no matter what level of fitness you’re at or what you’re most passionate about. Each + every CHAARG girl gives me the strength, courage, + support to reach my potential every single day. I don’t know what I’d do without my CHAARG girls! // [@katiehan_inchaarg]
#10] So when I started VirtCHAARG I was super hesitant about what it all entailed. For some reason I’ve always kept my health to myself. I prefer working out alone + when others ask about what I do, I would get super uncomfortable — mainly because I didn’t know how to mix up my routine. Since joining, I’ve been a lot more open about what I do. I’ve encouraged people to join me + in return have made more friends. Also, by consistently keeping myself fit I’ve been the happiest I’ve been in a really long time. // [@emilyrym_inchaarg]
#11] VirtCHAARG inspired me to do things I never thought I would, like start 5:30 am workouts + have a healthier, more nutritious diet. VirtCHAARG has helped teach me the importance of loving yourself + working out because you love your body, not because you don’t — which is something I’m still working on. These ladies have celebrated with me, been there for me at my low points + have taught me so many things. If I ever need help with training, inspiration or even anything, they are always here for me. VirtCHAARG impacted me so deeply that I wouldn’t be the same person without these amazing women. // [@bjones_inchaarg]
#12] VirtCHAARG has shown me what it means to be confident, feel inspired + reach my goals. Without the endless support of CHAARGies, I wouldn’t have completed my 10k in June. VirtCHAARG has only found a positive way into my health + fitness journey. I have met new people, tried new workouts, + finally found my fit! // [@virginia_inchaarg]
VIRTCHAARG HAS HELPED TEACH ME THE IMPORTANCE OF LOVING YOURSELF + WORKING OUT BECAUSE YOU LOVE YOUR BODY, NOT BECAUSE YOU DON’T — WHICH IS SOMETHING I’M STILL WORKING ON. VIRTCHAARG IMPACTED ME SO DEEPLY THAT I WOULDN’T BE THE SAME PERSON WITHOUT THESE AMAZING WOMEN.
