Whether it’s Sunday football, or a movie night with your friends, let’s face it — we all love snacking ; ). We sometimes look at snacking as a negative because packaged snack foods can be unhealthy +//or have some ingredients that we usually try to avoid. So we created our own salsa recipe to spice up your healthy snacks + give you the perfect combo of savory salsa + sweet cinnamon tortilla chips. It’s quick + easy ++ a crowd favorite!
*for the salsa
1 cup finely diced Apple [Granny Smith works great]
1 Tomato [diced]
⅓ cup diced onion
¼ cup Dried Cranberries
⅓ cup Apple Cider
1 tsp chopped Cilantro
⅛ tsp cracked Black Pepper
½ tsp Cinnamon
*for the chips
2 Whole Wheat Tortillas [cut into triangles]
2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
½ tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp of Sugar
1] Preheat oven to 350°F. Place diced tomato in a medium bowl + squeeze gently with hands until juicy. Add the Apple, Onion, Cranberries, Cider, Cilantro, Pepper, Cinnamon + Lime Juice. Cover + refrigerate while chips are cooking.
2] Spread a little of the Olive Oil onto a cookie sheet + place Tortilla triangles on top. Drizzle the remaining Oil onto chips + spread with a spoon.
3] Sprinkle the ½ tsp of cinnamon evenly on to the chips.
4] Bake chips for about 10 minutes until crisp. Let cool + take salsa out of the refrigerator. You’re ready to serve!
