Host A Book Club: A Return To Love

My love of reading + self-discovery has prompted me to start a BOOK CLUB in Chicago : ). We’ve only done one so far, but it was such a beautiful experience that I want you to join in on the fun. Every month, I’ll share with you an outline of questions//discussions prompts, so that you can either #1] use the prompts for journaling, or #2] grab CHAARG girls in your area + host your own CHAARG Book Club!

First up… A Return To Love!

“A miracle is just a shift in perspective.”

#1] How would you describe your spiritual//religious background as a kid?

#2] We’re just disgusted with ourselves, because we think we should be better by now. Sometimes we make the mistake of thinking other people don’t have as much fear as we do, which only makes us more afraid. Why do we fear? How can we unlearn fear? Identify your darkness//your fears. How do you try to mask your fears?

— If I’m not needed, then I’m not loved.

— If I don’t take care of myself, no one else will.

— I don’t belong anywhere.

— I don’t have what it takes.

— I can’t perform well enough to feel worthy.

— I am bad.

— If I mess up, the worst will happen.

— If I’m vulnerable, I’ll be hurt.

— I’m nothing special

#3] The moment of surrender is not when life is over. It’s when it begins. How do you feel about surrendering to a higher power? Do you feel discomfort, do you embrace it, do you truly believe in it? Where do you feel resistance to the idea? Brainstorm how to relax + trust in a higher power.

#4] The change we are looking for is inside our heads. What perceptions can you change about the circumstances of your life?

#5] Ego is separation from God + one another. How can we connect with others more + be more loving? Why is it scary to *talk to strangers*? How can we get outside our comfort zones? Where do you need to let down your walls?

#6] Sometimes people claim they don’t need a crutch like Jesus. But he’s not a crutch — he’s a teacher. Jesus, Buddha, + any other enlightened being were geniuses in the way they used their minds + hearts. Why not learn from them, follow their lead, study what they are doing right? How have you studied Jesus in the past? How do you want study Jesus now? Are you comfortable with Christian wording?

#7] Surrender means to give up attachment to results. When we surrender to God, we let go of our attachment to how things happen on the outside + we become more concerned with what happens on the inside. The experience of love is a choice we make, a mental decision to see love as the only real purpose + value in any situation. How can we give up attachment to results? Where do you most experience worry + anxiety? How can you release it?

#8] We need less posturing + more genuine charisma. Charisma was originally a religious term, meaning “of the spirit” or “inspired.” It’s about letting God’s light shine through us. It’s about a sparkle in people that money can’t buy. When you think of a *great person* you know — who comes to mind? What qualities does she//he have? What quality do you want to work on + radiate this month?

#9] A miracle is a shift in thinking from what we might have done in the past or should be doing in the future, to what we feel free to do right here, right now. Only the ego speculates about tomorrow. Should we live with fully open hearts today, tomorrow will take care of itself. How can you truly *live in the present*?

#10] The purpose of our lives is to give birth to the best within us. We’re all assigned a piece of the garden, a corner of the universe that is ours to transform. Our corner of the universe is our own life — our relationships, our homes, our work, our current circumstances — exactly as they are. Every situation we find ourselves in is an opportunity, perfectly planned by the Holy Spirit, to teach love inside of fear. Whatever energy system we find ourselves a part of, it’s our job to heal it — to purify the thought forms by purifying our own. It’s never really a circumstance that need to change — it’s we who needs to chance. The prayer isn’t for God to change our lives, but rather for Him to change us. How can we heal our internal demons, our fearful mental habits ++ instead, show up in each situation with the energy of love? Is there a situation that you are spending a lot of mental negative energy on now that you can shift perspectives on?

#11] Relationships are assignments. No meetings are accidental. Those who are to meet will meet, because together they have the potential for a holy relationship. Many times, we ask “What can I get?” out of a relationship… instead, how can we ask the question, “What can I give?” How can we support, forgive, + heal one another — instead of trying to fix, change, or belittle another person?

#12] Love is a decision. What is your relationship with love right now?

#13] I used to worry too much about whether or not I was supported, + not enough about whether or not I was actively supporting others.Everyone share how we can support them.

#14] We can work on ourselves every moment that we live. The world is healed one loving thought at a time. Mother Therea said that there are no great deeds — just small deeds done with great love. Practice ++ commit. We each have different fears — it is up to us to recognize our fears + ask God for help. It is up to us to be aware + awake + a LIGHT in this world, rather than live numbed out in our own negative patterns. When you do anything, do it kindly.

Everyday Prayer:

Where would you have me go?

What would you have me do?

What would you have me say, ++ to whom?

“Ultimately, I realized the person I was waiting for was myself. If we wait for the world’s permission to shine, we will never receive it.”

Let God’s love enlighten + enliven your life ❤ ❤ ❤
