5 Reasons You Should Take A Digital Detox

 

We’re in the midst of one of the biggest societal movements: the social + digital age. It has truly been a movement in every sense of the word — just look at the CHAARG hashtags. ; ) Even though this constant connection has been a driving force in building communities like this one, we shouldn’t forget how to be HUMAN! So while we highly encourage you to keep posting your #sweatyselfies + spreading the #CHAARG love, here are five reasons why you should consider taking a step back every once in awhile.

#1] YOU CAN BE PRODUCTIVE

Do you ever think about how much time we would save if we weren’t texting people back//checking Twitter + Facebook + Instagram while working on things? All of these small *breaks* add up big time, + one task can end up taking you an hour longer than it should. By cutting out the digital distractions, you’ll be 100% focused + you can actually #DOWORK.

#2] YOU CAN FOCUS ON YOU

Designating some *me time* is one of the best things you can do during a digital detox to stay #inCHAARG of your health + happiness. In a world where we are constantly connected to others, it can do us a lot of good to spend some quality time with ourselves. If you’re not paying attention to what the rest of the world is up to, you’ll be more in tune with your own thoughts + feelings.

#3] YOU CAN FOCUS ON OTHERS.

Ironically, disconnecting can truly be the best way to reconnect with people. Swap your social media routine for a lunch date with an old friend [+ keep your phone out of sight!]. No matter how much we rely on social media to keep us in touch with the people in our lives, nothing will ever compare to the value of real, face-to-face conversations. Make sure you’re radiating positive vibes in *real life*, not just in the form of likes + retweets.

#4] YOU CAN RELAX + #RECHAARG

Give your brain a break from the information overload! Our minds are working tirelessly day in + day out to process everything we see + read online. Try to avoid being on your phone right before you go to sleep to give your mind some time to actually unwind + decompress after a long day. Life moves faster than ever in the *digital age*, so it’s important to remind yourself to slow down + BREATHE!

#5] YOU CAN DO MORE OF WHAT YOU LOVE

Read a novel. Craft. Write. Go for a run. Explore nature. Cook. Do all of the things that you say you *don’t have time for*. Because when you disconnect from all things digital, you’ll find that you DO have time. Do more of what makes you happy to be alive. Enjoy your life without feeling the pressure to document every moment of it.

Phones, laptops + tablets will never go away, but time will. When you look back on your life, you don’t want to regret how you spent yours! Having a little digital detox will remind you of what’s truly important in life. ++ more importantly, it’ll remind you to live.
