4 Ways To Make Your [Not So Favorite] Job More Enjoyable
As CHAARG girls, we believe you should do what you love + love what you do. Easier said than done, right? It’s not always affordable + realistic to have your *dream* job right away. Sometimes you’re stuck in a job that you don’t particularly love, but it pays well, or maybe you really can’t stand your current situation + don’t see a way out. Whatever the case, we’ve got 4 tips for you to make the most of a job you don’t love.
1] ASK YOURSELF *WHY* YOU HAVE THIS JOB
Are you making a difference with your clients//patients? Is it a stepping stone to get you to where you want to be? Is it valuable experience that will make you more marketable in the future? Was it a last resort? Take time to reevaluate what this job is doing [or not doing] for you. Are you sticking with it because it has a solid salary + benefits? Maybe you needed the money when you first took the job, but it’s likely that after working there for a while you could have a foundation to branch out + do something you really love.
2] INVEST IN YOUR CO-WORKERS
Maybe you need to stick with the job because it will benefit you in the long run, so take time to get to know the people working with you. Try a workout class together or go to happy hour to relax after a long week! Networking can also be advantageous. You never know who they could know + you may end up scoring a contact that could change your life. Plus, chances are your co-workers are cooler than you think + you may find some unlikely friends : )
3] MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF
A job you don’t love can be taxing on your body. The stress of wanting a change, but not being able to make one can make you physically + mentally exhausted. Dedicate your free time to rejuvenation + #reCHAARGing, whether it’s through meditation, reading, journaling, a killer #sweatsesh or Netflix bingeing. You do you ; )
4] REMEMBER THE BEST IS YET TO COME
You don’t have to stay in this job for the rest of your life if you don’t want to. You can decide at any time that this is not the path you want. We are not trees — our roots are not meant to be planted in one place for our entire lives. It’s so exciting that our lives will be full of so many surprises, twists, turns, + unexpected joy! Remember to surround yourself with positivity + be optimistic of the future. And don’t forget — you’ve got an entire community supporting you all the way : )
How do you handle the stress of a job you aren’t crazy about? Let us know how we can help you! : )
