With one of the busiest times of the year approaching, it’s important take a break from your job or school + #treatyoself to a night out having fun + drinking with friends//family [if you’re 21+, of course!]. While out, it can be hard to make healthy choices, but by making a few small changes, you can get some exercise in without even realizing it. Going out doesn’t have to be unhealthy. You can easily incorporate cardio throughout the night —
1] DITCH THE DRIVE
If close enough, walk to your destination instead of taking an Uber or public transportation. Walking is an easy way to burn a few extra calories before indulging in a night out. Not only will you be saving money + the environment, but you’ll also be getting in an easy workout.
2] TAKE THE STAIRS
While walking, if you encounter either stairs or an escalator//elevator, take the stairs — your booty deserves a little workout too!
3] GET DROPPED OFF FAR AWAY
If you do decide to take an Uber or taxi, ask your driver to drop you off a few blocks away from your destination. By doing so, you can get cardio in while walking there! When you’re ready to leave, you can even walk a few extra blocks before requesting a ride home.
4] STAND UP
Whether you’re out at a party or bar, stand up whenever given the chance. Standing up is one of the easiest ways to stay active into your night. It has amazing benefits, such as giving you energy, burning calories, toning muscles, + increasing metabolism. Sip on that strawberry daiquiri while on your feet ; )
5] TAKE A LAP
When you reach your destination, take a lap — or two! Walk around + explore the space. This may seem insignificant, but even being up on your feet for a little is better than sitting all night. You’ll also be able to see the whole space instead of being confined to one area. You can even introduce yourself to new people as you do so — it’s a great way to make new friends!
6] HIT THE DANCE FLOOR
There’s no better [+ more fun!] way to get exercise in than showing off your moves. Grab your friends + dance like nobody’s watching — the crazier, the better of a workout you’ll be getting! You didn’t take all those Zumba classes for nothing ; )
