As college students + young post-grads, when we’re not in class//at work — we tend to be surrounded by our family, friends + significant others the majority of the time. Sharing fun moments with our loved ones is a blast, but constant interaction with others can also inhibit us in ways we may not realize.
We are all strong, independent + beautiful women, but our sense of self can sometimes get lost if we’re surrounded by our peers 24/7. When you’re used to only venturing the world with others, doing anything alone becomes something we fear.
Often times, being seen in public alone brings out a fear of appearing like a loner + makes us self-conscious. Rather than thinking of how scary it seems to be out alone or thinking that people will *judge you*, think about how empowering it could be. Spending some time alone is not only vital to being the best version of ourselves, but also a major confidence boost. We challenge you to give it a try ; ). Here are some awesome dates you should take yourself on this fall…
1] COFFEE SHOP HANGS WITH A GOOD BOOK
Simple, yet so sweet. Spending a day with a warm mug of coffee [or a PSL ; )] + a book is the *picture perfect* way to enjoy a Sunday during the fall. Make sure to sit by the window so you can see the gorgeous scenery!
2] GET A MASSAGE
Or a facial, mani//pedi — whatever it is, spend a day dedicated to pampering yourself! You put so much work into your body by fueling it right + completing your daily #sweatsesh — now it’s time to let someone else do something good for ya : ).
3] LEARN HOW TO COOK SOMETHING NEW
Cooking class are a lot of fun + are a great way to gain confidence in the kitchen! Already got *the basics* down? Take a class that demonstrates how to cook something you’ve never made before — like pasta, a souflé, or even chocolate truffles. Yum!
4] GO OUT TO BRUNCH
Brunch is the best meal of the day — by far ; ). Take yourself to your favorite café, order the most mouth-watering item on the menu + enjoy! Eating alone in a restaurant may feel uncomfortable at first, but do yourself a favor + try it — without your phone [just trust us!]. Grab a newspaper, magazine, or your journal + enjoy your *me time*.
5] SEE A MOVIE
Going to the movies is another activity deemed as *taboo* to do solo, but it’s actually a great way to relax for a of couple hours. If you’re feeling nervous about taking yourself out to the movies alone, remember that everyone’s eyes are up on the screen, not at you. Sit back + enjoy your alone time!
6] UNWIND AT A YOGA CLASS
CHAARG girls love working out with other CHAARG girls, but it’s nice to conquer a workout solo sometimes! ++ what’s a more perfect workout to do solo than yoga? The silence of yoga, with only sounds of breathing + light music in the background creates the perfect environment for a relaxing date. Try an outdoor yoga class in the park — the scenery + crisp air will pair wonderfully with your practice.
Even in the madness of your semester, make sure to carve out some time for you. After all, you’re the most important person in your life — don’t forget it! #treatyoself
