Have you ever set a goal that you’re so excited to achieve, but along the way, you find yourself losing steam + sight of that previous motivation? Sometimes our powerful intentions fall short ++ that’s okay! Utilize these seven strategies to stay on top of your game —
1] KEEP YOUR GOALS ACHIEVABLE
It seems logical to only set goals you plan to reach, but in reality, we find ourselves shooting for the stars. If you’re not careful, your plans might take more time, energy + commitment than your busy schedule can allow. Start small – set goals that will give you a jumpstart + lead you down the right path. Once these are met + habits are made, then try reaching higher. When you’re making goals, shoot for the stars, but make sure you leave yourself some room to grow + change along the way.
2] REWARD YOURSELF
Did ya finally get rid of that stubborn five pounds? Did ya ace an exam you’ve studied hours for? Then it’s time to #treatyoself ; ) Give yourself incentives to make meeting your goals fun + to increase the chances of you following through. Goals shouldn’t be a chore, but instead something that you’re motivated + excited about working towards. Think about a reward system that works best for you – whether that means a mani//pedi or a pint of Ben + Jerry’s!
3] HAVE ACCOUNTABILITY BUDS
Having a friend or even a group of people [like CHAARG!] that knows your goals will make it that much easier to work towards them. Accountability buds can help motivate you, inspire you + keep you going. They’ll be there when you feel as though you’re starting to slip + will help pull you back up when you fall. When you’re losing motivation, send a text to someone who knows what you’re going through + wants to see you come out on top. Sometimes all we need is a little pep talk to keep us going.
4] BE OPEN TO CHANGE
If you’re really struggling with something, don’t be afraid to modify your goals to make them more feasible. If certain tactics aren’t working for you, change them! There’s no one-size-fits-all way to meet your goals, so taking it step by step, one small goal at a time makes it easier to pull an audible + not be totally thrown off. Change can be good + provides fresh perspective. Learn from your mistakes + keep CHAARGin’ on : )
5] SEEK CONSTANT INSPIRATION
A wonderful benefit of the internet + the nationwide CHAARG community is the ability to be inspired by so many others with similar goals. You can see their experiences + even get in touch with them to seek advice. Try not to compare yourselves to the others out there + stay true to yourself, but with a positive, optimistic mindset, you can always find inspiration — even on the darkest days!
6] REVISIT YOUR GOALS OFTEN
Taking a look at your goals each week allows them to remain fresh in your head + easy to visualize. You’re able to remind yourself of what you’re truly working towards + find ways to make progress right now. Try writing down at least one thing you can do the upcoming week to meet each of your goals. Find your flow + you’ll be achieving new goals faster than you can set them!
7] BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
Trusting yourself is something that needs to happen day in + day out in order for you to reach your goals. Whether this means having a daily mantra, writing things down in a journal, or looking in the mirror + actually telling yourself how awesome you are, make sure that at the end of the day, you know that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Remember, no matter what your mind or others tell you – YOU GOT THIS!
Goals can be tricky + intimidating, but by continuously keeping track of them + finding new ways to meet them, you’re sure to accomplish more than you even originally thought. Write it down, tell a friend, remind yourself of how awesome you are + you’ll soon find that all of your goals are achievable : )
