Simply getting to the gym is sometimes the hardest part, especially when winter is at its worst. Despite the seemingly inevitable lethargy that comes with the cold months, there’s lots of little things you can do to keep yourself on top of your game —
1] CREATE A VISION BOARD
A vision board is a personal collage of pictures, quotes, + inspo you can use to help clarify + stay focused on your goals. The fun part is that it’s open to any + all forms of creativity. Make it simplistic or make it extravagant — it’s up to you! You can include things like pictures of your athletic role models, quotes that’ll get you excited to get moving, or ways that you plan to reward yourself when you reach a certain goal. We suggest piling on the CHAARG pics + snippets of your fav blog posts ; ) Make sure to put it in plain sight, like on your desk, so that you’re consistently reminded of your dreams + always staying motivated!
2] LEAVE YOURSELF NOTES
Post-it notes are an unexpectedly easy tool to use for reaching fitness goals. For daily motivation, try scribbling some personal notes + putting them in places where you’re most likely to run into them. It works especially well at the edge of your bed, so you can wake up to something inspirational + end your night on the right note, too. Make sure to keep your little notes positive, though — they’re meant to bring you up + remind yourself to work hard, not get you feeling guilty // bad about yourself!
3] MAKE IT A DATE
Going to the gym doesn’t have to be a fruitless, lonely part of your day [although, if you enjoy being alone during your workout, we totally get that, too]. Invite an old friend to catch up, a family member, a fellow CHAARG girl, your S // O … working up a sweat with someone else [or several others] is fun + will make the time fly. Not only is it an opportunity to hang out + laugh, but you’ll also motivate + push each other as you go.
4] BECOME A FITIONISTA
Making a pact to go to the gym more often is a valid excuse to splurge on cute workout gear, right? Of course! : ) There’s something magical about a new pair of leggings that make us want to get moving. If having your workout outfit match perfectly is what gets you pumped, make it happen, even if that means coordinating your outfit the night before.
If you’re often in a time crunch, athleisure clothing will be your best friend. This trend makes it even easier to express your style at the gym + transition to daily life in no time. CHAARG recognizes that *confidence* is what’s most important, so wear whatever makes you feel bold // comfortable enough to kill your sweat sesh!
5] MAKE IT FUN
The same old gym routine can quickly become a bore. Doing the same thing over + over again is not only useless for your muscles, but for your mindset, too. Get creative + jump out of your comfort zone to reinvigorate your fit groove + keep your muscles guessing. Try going to a class you’re interested in but never been to, start a new FitPlan, or research the latest health trends. Remember that working out should be fun — not a chore. Do whatever it takes to find your fit [working out outside, in the AM, lifting heavy, cardio …]. It’s not a one size fits all kind of thing, ++ that’s okay!
We all understand the hardships of getting into a workout lull. Thankfully, there’s a million ways to enliven a healthy lifestyle if you’re willing to experiment + take a chance.
