*Seeking help for mental illness is a sign of strength, not weakness.*
Mental illnesses are crippling — they can make you feel helpless + weak. They are hard to combat, yet most people don’t like reaching out for help because they don’t want others to know they are struggling. They want to come across as being *put together,* but nobody is perfect. Seeking help is okay + you should never feel bad about needing it.
Reaching out for help shows that you have won in the battle between you + your mental illness. You are stronger than your mental illness. You are stronger than every negative thought. You are stronger than the countless nights of tears. You are stronger than you will ever know. By getting help, you are telling your mental illness it no longer has the right to control your life. You have made the decision to become healthy again, + that shows that you have so much more strength inside you than you ever realized.
You are not weak because you need mental help. You are brave. You are fierce. You are resilient. You are a million things, but weak is not one of them. If you are struggling with a mental illness, please take the necessary steps to care for yourself. Let your friends + family know that you are struggling — they will support you + help you every step of the way.
If you’re suffering from a mental illness, know that you are not alone. The CHAARG community will always have your back + support you. Make sure you reach out + get the help you need. You are strong + your mental health is important.
We love you, always <3
