Think back to the first of the new year. When we woke up on New Year’s Day, we felt determined + strong going into 2016. With awesome resolutions + themes written down, we vowed to make this year something special. Motivation levels were high right out of the gate.
Now that we’re already a month into 2016 [crazy!], you may be starting to feel a drop in motivation—or have already experienced this + are finding it difficult to get back on track toward your goals. If your resolutions have seemed to fall flat, don’t let it stop you from moving forward! Here’s how to get back on track!
1] ONLY MAKE A FEW *QUALITY* RESOLUTIONS
Take some time to reflect + reevaluate the goals you originally set for yourself in 2016. If you feel overwhelmed, think quality over quantity. Try narrowing down to two or three goals//resolutions that really speak to you. Remember — real changes take dedication + patience. Make the best of your time + truly invest in a only a couple of goals to get the best end result.
2] REMIND YOURSELF OF YOUR RESOLUTIONS DAILY
In order to stay motivated + consistent with working toward our resolutions, we have to remind ourselves of them on a daily basis. By now, you’ve probably already written down your resolutions — take it a step further by committing to say them aloud to yourself in the morning when you wake up, after you get out of the shower, etc. Repeat them at the same time every day. Make your resolutions a daily habit + it will become a natural part of your routine in time.
3] PURSUE RESOLUTIONS THAT SPEAK TO YOUR TRUE PASSIONS
Go with your gut + pursue the goals you’re really passionate about. To stay motivated, the resolutions you pursue must come from an honest place. The resolutions your friends + fellow CHAARG girls are seeking may not align with yours, + that’s okay! Don’t feel pressured to set a resolution just because it’s what others are doing or it’s what you think you *should* be doing. Unsure of what you really want? Take some time to meditate + search for the answer.
4] ASK OTHERS TO HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE
We can all use an accountability buddy now + then to stay on track. Whether your accountability bud is pursuing the same resolution, or simply promises to be there for ya to help you measure your progress + keep you motivated, having someone there with you every step of the way will put you back on track + moving forward.
5] CONSIDER PUTTING YOUR RESOLUTIONS ON HOLD
While a difficult realization to come to, sometimes our current situation prevents us from fully committing to our goals + resolutions. Take a week or two to give your mind a rest from thinking about your resolutions + why you haven’t seen real change or progress yet. It’s ok to put a project on hold — the break will help rejuvenate your mind, body + spirit, + give you the energy you need to get back at it!
Don’t stress too much about those resolutions. Remember — amazing things don’t happen overnight. Give yourself the proper time, attention + patience to get there, because you will. ++ We all believe in you!
