Well, CHAARG is goin’ to BATON ROUGE BABY. To be honest, I was very nervous to expand to Louisiana State University — it is a 14 hour car ride from Chicago [yikes] + a pretty expensive plane ride. My goal has been to “slowly” expand from the Midwest out + LSU was definitely a jump. But, Sarah — our Chapter Trainer — said, “Elisabeth, we need to expand to Louisiana State University — I’m going to be mad at you if we don’t. Morgan is amazing, + they have 300+ girls interested in CHAARG at LSU.” So, I knew this girl must be somethin’ special if Sarah [the nicest person ever] was going to be mad at me if we didn’t expand there : ) — well, I had a skype date with Morgan soon after, + I learned why Sarah loved her so much. Morgan is PASSIONATE. ++ she’s SPUNKY. She is such a go getter [she has probably emailed me 5+ times with amazing ideas] + if anyone can take CHAARG to the South — it’s her. Without further adieu… meet MORGAN.

How did you hear about CHAARG?
My friend, Annelise, is friends with one of the girls on the Exec Team at another university. One morning she texted me saying that there was this amazing organization called CHAARG that she knew I would love to be a part of – she said it was kind of difficult to explain but gave me the gist of it. She said they were doing a program called CHAARGmas + that the sign ups ended today at 10:00AM. Well, it was 9:45 so without knowing much [other than what CHAARG stood for] I logged onto the website + signed up. I am pretty sure I read every single blog post//Instagram that day + knew this was something that would be a complete game changer for me. Obviously, it was.
When was the moment that you knew you had to bring CHAARG to your school?
Umm… I signed up for CHAARGmas at 9:45 AM so, probably that morning at 9:46AM is the moment I realized I had to bring CHAARG to LSU. It didn’t take much for me to realize that this was something I had to be a part of. I texted Annelise + asked what would we need to do to get a chapter here, because we needed one desperately! We found out that the applications were closed for the semester + would open up in the Spring of 2014 + we would have to wait until then. After CHAARGmas I fell EVEN MORE in love with CHAARG + everything it stood for. I became a Virtual Member in January + then participated in the #CHAARGSBFP. I made so many connections just through that – I couldn’t imagine how it would feel to actually have a tangible community of girls all with a common goal supporting me to be my fittest + healthiest self. I wanted that not only for myself, but for all of the girls around me. Because I was so obsessed with CHAARG, I was constantly posting Instagram + Facebook posts about my workouts with CHAARG, Insta challenges + everything in between – I think I went a little overboard. I cannot tell you how many girls messaged me, commented on my pictures, or even texted me asking what CHAARG stood for + what it was. This is when I knew that if this many girls were interested just from seeing MY pictures, there had to be more girls out there who were interested! I knew that LSU would be the perfect place for CHAARG to go next because we are such a passionate community with everything we do that there would be no way CHAARG would not flourish here. I knew that I was going to do anything + everything I could to get it here!
What ignited your passion for health + fitness?
Ever since I could walk I have played sports. In elementary, I was that kid in PE that took the games a little too serious (sorry y’all…) When I was older I played every sport there was + even danced for 9 years. Side note… I even broke my femur in half [OUCH] while I was playing basketball! In high school, I played Varsity Soccer for 4 years + loved the support + confidence it gave me. Health + fitness was always a constant in my life but when I got to college, + I no longer had that constant active schedule, I lost sight of how much health + fitness had been such a huge part of who I was. Throughout my Freshman + Sophomore Years at LSU I stayed active [not nearly as active as I once was] by going to group classes at the UREC + running but didn’t feel that spark like I used to. I wasn’t seeing those results as easily as I had in high school + I would get down on myself + quit. Then, the summer before my Junior year [last summer], I decided it was time to find my fit again. I started working out + running every day after work, with my friend, + finally started to feel like myself again. Throughout my Junior year I continued to work out + decided to challenge myself again + signed up for the Rock N’ Roll New Orleans Half Marathon in February 2014. I trained from October – the end of January + completed the Half on February 2! I cannot remember being that proud of myself –EVER! I had set a goal + stuck with it — by myself! After completing the half I felt on top of the world. At that point I had just become a Virtual Member of CHAARG + threw myself into it. I started eating healthier, became “Paleoish”, + truly felt I was the happiest + healthiest me I had been in a long time. I was working out, happy, healthy + confident! Deep down inside, I had always had this want // need to start a blog so finally in March I started my blog to document my journey to become the fittest + healthiest me + to show college girls my age that if I can do it — YOU can too!
Aside from working out, what else do you do in your spare time?
I LOVE to cook. I LOVE to eat. I LOVE to sing [badly]. I also LOVE food photography. ++ I LOVE my dog. Since starting my blog I have realized how much I truly enjoy cooking + how much of a stress reliever it is for me. I also love to take pictures of my food… super weird but I find food so pretty ++ colorful! I like to spend time outside with friends — a picnic outside is one of the happiest things ever created. Also, in my spare time I spend as much time as possible with my Black Lab // Catahoula // adorable mutt of a dog Cabela. He is a rescue pup + probably the sweetest fella you will ever meet.
What excites you the most about starting a CHAARG chapter at your school?
Honestly, I cannot wait to see the excitement on the girls’ faces when they experience what CHAARG is all about. You can explain something to someone until they are “blue in the face” but they will never truly understand something like this until they actually experience it. I, personally, am very excited to experience this for myself as well. I have heard + seen from countless universities that the CHAARG Community is life changing. I am beyond excited to experience this + hopefully show college girls at LSU realize that health + fitness isn’t all about being “skinny” or “healthy” it’s about being the strongest, most confident + #inCHAARG woman you can be. I am also excited to see change // implement — a change for the better. I know that this organization will change the way our university views health + fitness, especially that that is aimed at women. I know that CHAARG will leave a lasting impression not only with the girls of LSU but with the university as a whole. I can’t wait to show LSU that CHAARG girls are a force to be reckoned with. : )
