// THE MOMENT //
The moment you knew you wanted to start a CHAARG chapter at your university… I knew I had to bring CHAARG to Belmont University after I learned about what it stood for + what it has done for so many girls. I was already working out with a bunch of girls a couple afternoons a week last spring semester doing some fun workouts like Jillian Michael’s Bodyshred ++ I saw the community grow within these girls + in my group fitness class that I started teaching at the same time. I wanted to give girls the opportunity to discover their love for fitness + meet other girls with similar interests. My university’s fitness facility isn’t exactly ideal because we have grown so much in the past few years so the weight room can be extremely intimidating for the girls causing them to often resort to the cardio machines. I wanted CHAARG at Belmont to change that + to show that girls can do whatever they put their hearts into. I’ve already seen a change in the girls + we’re not even an official org on campus yet — it’s SO amazing what a community for fitness + health can do. Sometimes all you need is a little encouragement + support 🙂
My passion for health + fitness was ignited when… I don’t think I could tell you an exact moment.. I have always enjoyed being active — dancing + playing softball + tennis in high school + all sorts of lake activities. I had a severe ankle injury my freshman year of high school + was unable to be active for 3+ months — this is when I decided I wanted to be a physical therapist. When I got to college, I became enamored with anatomy + working out + made many new friends by attending group fitness classes on campus. Then I started working at the gym + got certifications for personal training + group fitness + bosu specialist! I love learning + trying new, unorthodox exercises. I also love feeling strong + able bodied to take care of myself in any situation + loving my body for its strength.
