// THE MOMENT //
Forced to face my new reality as a freshman in college, + a NARP (“Non Athletic Regular Person”), I went to the rec Center alone every day, missing my teammates + best friends back home. I was determined to set a goal for myself, to have something to work toward even though I had to chase this one without a team. I decided to train for a half marathon, + ran in the Newburyport Half Marathon in May 2016, just a few days after finishing my last final exam of freshman year. When I got home from the race, my best friend who is a member of the UConn CHAARG chapter told me all about CHAARG + how much I would love it, given that I had trained + gone to the gym all year long + was still in search of a supportive community on my campus. I looked up CHAARG online immediately + was so excited + ready to buy my membership right then + there — however, there was not a UMass Chapter. After finally achieving the goal I had been working toward all year, a new one was already in my mind- I was going to bring CHAARG to UMass Amherst. I waited with anticipation as three months crept by + August 1st came, + with it the CHAARG Ambassador Application. During every round of interviews I was so excited + nervous, I barely heard the questions I was asked. The moment I found out that UMass was one of the next homes for CHAARG, it didn’t fully hit me right away. I had wanted it for so long, + I had been so afraid to get my hopes up. Now, we’re only a few months away from the official start of our chapter. There is so much power to do good for ourselves + for others within each of us, + CHAARG is the ultimate movement to empower all of the girls on our campus. I am so grateful for the opportunity to spread this movement of positivity, support, + empowerment + I cannot wait for you to join me!

If you could work out with anyone dead or alive, what workout would you do + who would you work out with?
Misty Copeland — I danced for sixteen years + am still not over the fact that I don’t go to ballet class several nights a week anymore. Misty Copeland is an absolutely incredible dancer, works ridiculously hard, + she does not shy away from breaking boundaries + and is known for changing the face of ballet all together. I would do anything to take a class taught by her!
A song that gets me pumped to take on a #sweatsesh is… The Greatest by Sia
