University of Dayton was our third Ohio university to start + BOY, did they start out with a BANG. We were a little nervous to expand to Dayton just because the university’s population was so much smaller than the two universities we were previously at — The Ohio State University + University of Cincinnati. However, we soon realized that because of this tight knit community, the word of CHAARG spread like wild fire. We had 200+ members at Dayton under Katie [the first #UDCHAARG Ambassador] that first semester — it was crazy + so exciting! Emily, the secretary at the time, really stepped up as a leader + I remember Katie telling me that she would make an awesome Ambassador once she graduated. Well — I am excited to announce that Emily very well is the next Ambassador + I have no doubt that she is going to do amazing things : )

How did you hear about CHAARG?
My roommates’ best friend from high school goes to OSU + she was always talking about this cool club that did all these amazing workouts together that was all about fitness. Then last summer, Katie — UD’s first CHAARG Ambassador, announced on Facebook that she was going to bring CHAARG to UD + I was PUMPED. I emailed her on the spot + knew I had to get involved.
What ignited your passion for health + fitness?
I grew up playing sports + in high school ran track + cross-country, so being active is something that has always been apart of me. After going to college, I became more + more aware of how much fitness + a healthy lifestyle impacts me. When I’m not consistently working out + eating healthy, I notice a total mood shift + I don’t feel myself. Health + fitness enables me to keep a balance in my life as well as add some spice to it. I love trying new workouts + healthy foods that I’ve never had before!
Aside from working out, what else do you do in your spare time?
During the school year, the little spare time I do have is either spent working out, napping, or hanging out with my friends. I usually keep a book list during the school year of all the books that I want to read over the summer. The summertime is my favorite free reading + of course occasional Netflix binges. Scandal has been my most recent Netflix favorite. I also love cooking + trying new Pinterest recipes that I pinned during the school year.
What excites you the most about being the leader of the CHAARG chapter at your school?
This year I am so excited to increase our presence on UD’s campus. I want to make sure everyone knows what CHAARG is + what we are all about. I can’t wait to get closer to all the CHAARG girls from last year as well as recruit new girls to join. I’m excited after having a year under our belt we know what works well + what doesn’t. We have started to establish relationships with fitness instructors + have a lot of people excited to come back + work out with us!
