Between class, work, friends + trying to stay sane, life can get extremely busy. We’ve got a lot of things to juggle + sometimes we don’t know how we’ll do it all. If you’re struggling to manage your time, start trying these 6 things —
1] PLAN AHEAD
Find a planner that works for you + utilize it. The more you write down, the better! Making some sort of to-do list can always help organize your tasks + ideas. Create daily check-ins for yourself to make sure you’re accomplishing what you set out to do that day. If it helps, designate one day to lay out a plan for the rest of the week. Set small goals so that you’re able to properly manage the time you have each day.
2] CREATE HEALTHIER HABITS
The only way you’ll be able to maximize your time management skills is if you have enough energy to do so. Even if it’s short + sweet, try to get a workout in each day. Not to mention you should also be getting at least 8 hours of sleep each night. By making healthy choices, you’re making sure that your body is energized + ready to take on the tasks at hand.
3] PRIORITIZE YOUR TO-DO LIST
As you’re planning ahead, try sorting out which tasks are most important to you. What needs to get done + when? Prioritizing best allows you to figure out which things need the most attention + how you’ll be able to give them that. Some things need immediate work, while others can wait. Take some time to consider what’s crucial + what can be put aside until later.
4] TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF
We hear so many things about how to manage our time when it comes to school + work, but we should also focus on how to best manage time for ourselves. When things get stressful, make sure you’re taking time to relax. Otherwise, you may become stressed + lose track of what’s really important. Include *me-time* in your weekly schedule + remember to #treatyoself — whether it’s a night out or a night in featuring a pint of Halo Top : )
5] PUT AWAY DISTRACTIONS
The key to time management is remaining focused on the task at hand. It can be hard to do though when you’re constantly checking Snapchat ; ) Realize what distracts you most + find ways to get rid of these distractions. Whether this means no social media, texting, or Netflix for a set period of time, eliminate anything that interferes with your time management.
6] UTILIZE YOUR WEEKENDS
The weekends are most definitely a time to relax + have fun, but if you find yourself with some extra time, use it to organize yourself for the next week. Plan out meals, workouts + any fun activities you have planned so that when the time comes, you’ve got an agenda prepared. Remember, managing your time requires energy + focus. Taking time to plan saves time in the long-run!
By improving your time management skills, your days are sure to run smoothly. Practice these 6 things next time you’re feeling overwhelmed + unorganized. Before you know it, you’ll be managing + scheduling like a pro.
