In our busy schedules, sometimes it can be hard to make time for the things we love to do, whether it be reading, writing, working out, making art, or even meditating. Author Annie Dillard once said — *How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.* By simply looking at how you spend your days + what you dedicate most of your time to [Netflix binge, anyone?], you can put your daily actions into perspective + live while making time for the things // activities you love. There are a few ways that you can begin setting aside time for what you’re passionate about + what you enjoy doing–
1] GET UP EARLY
Even if you’re not into joining the #6AMCREW at the gym, there’s another early crew you can join. If you find yourself throughout the day not able to set aside time to do what you enjoy, getting up early + adding an extra hour to your day can help you squeeze in some time. It might be hard at first getting used to setting your alarm a bit earlier, but there’s nothing like setting your day off on the right foot by doing something that makes you happy!
2] PUT IT IN YOUR SCHEDULE // PLANNER
Sometimes, all we need to find the motivation to get things done is to visualize a clear plan. By writing in your planner // making a note in your phone’s calendar to set aside a planned amount of time to do something you enjoy + are passionate about, it can help make it seem less overwhelming to fit it into your daily schedule. Try the CHAARG Five Minute Journal Guide to practice setting intentions + goals every day. : )
3] MAKE // FIND A SPACE THAT SPARKS YOUR CREATIVITY
Whether you’re going to your local gym or you’re writing at your desk, the space you’re in can heavily influence your motivation + inspiration. Nothing makes a workout more fun than going to a gym where you’re friendly with the workers + the members, the space is well-kept, ++ the equipment easy + safe [maybe even enjoyable!] to use. If your creative space is in your home, hang up inspirational quotes, paint your walls your favorite color, light some candles, ++ make the space truly your own.
4] REMEMBER YOUR *WHY*
Why did you fall in love with running? Why do you love to write? Why is knitting the best thing since HIIT workouts? Remembering why you fell in love with your *thing* in the first place + why it brings you enjoyment is a great step in motivating you to do it every day. If reading relaxes you + brings you a lot of joy, by making time for it, you’re committing to showing an act of self-love everyday, + that’s something we should all get on board with. ; )
When we’re pulled into the hustle + bustle of our busy schedules, it can seem like there’s not enough time in the day to pull ourselves away from work + take time to do the things we love to do most. By making time to do things we enjoy, every day can become a lot more fulfilling + enjoyable. : )
