Pastels, glitter, + magic, oh my! From its humble beginnings by food-blogger Adeline Waugh to Starbucks’ release of the Unicorn Frappuccino last week, the unicorn food trend is taking the world by storm.
HOW IT STARTED
Adelina Waugh is a food blogger + food stylist based in Miami. She started this unicorn food trend earlier this year almost by accident! One day she was having fun with her toast decor + posted a picture of her creation on her insta @vibrantandpure. Her followers commented that it looked like unicorn toast, so Adeline started calling it that, + thus the unicorn food trend was born!
Adeline’s followers + unicorn-enthusiasts alike quickly adopted the trend, started making their own unicorn creations, + sharing on social media. The unicorn food trend caught on so quickly that even Starbucks hopped on the opportunity to release a Unicorn Frappuccino [un-affiliated with Adeline’s work]
Adeline’s goal was to “take healthy foods + make it fun // exciting by brightening it up with a few pops of color.” All you’re doing is taking healthy foods + dying them with all natural ingredients. So with the unicorn toast, for example, you’re mixing Greek yogurt or cream cheese with beet juice, turmeric root, ginger root, chlorophyll drops, freeze-dried blueberry powder, + spirulina powder.
The pretty pastels + cute designs can instantly put you in a good mood. We already know food is fuel for our bodies + should be enjoyed, so why not have some fun with it? We all deserve a little excitement + magic in our lives, especially with our food!
