Sometimes it’s nice to have others encourage + support us. A nice compliment or thoughtful text can go a long way on a bad day. But, when you’re looking for motivation + inspiration, you don’t need anyone other than yourself. Believing that you can achieve something is half the battle. Once you trust in yourself, you’ll find the necessary confidence you need to get it done. We get it – it’s easier said than done! Follow these five steps + learn how to become your own cheerleader —
1] USE POSITIVE SELF-TALK
Often times, it’s easy to pick out all of the things we dislike about ourselves. In order to fully support our goals, we must first think in ways that allows us to do so. Some days are better than others + self-love doesn’t always come easily. Instead of being too critical, think about the things you love about yourself. Voice them, write them down, or have a friend remind you of them. Stop that negative self-talk in its tracks!
2] WRITE DOWN DAILY AFFIRMATIONS
Sometimes, simply thinking positive thoughts isn’t enough to keep us going. This is where we need to record them to revisit them when necessary. Try writing down three things each day that you love about yourself. It can be things you’re doing well, things you’re working on or simply things that you admire about you. By doing this, you’re able to come back to these things when you’re feeling down + realize the ridiculously awesome person you really are : )
3] CELEBRATE YOUR SUCCESSES
Once again, we’re encouraging you to #treatyoself ; ) It’s incredibly important to acknowledge the things you’re doing well — progress is progress, no matter how small. Sometimes, getting out of bed in the morning warrants a reward! Recognize how hard you’ve been working + give yourself a break. Whether this means a spontaneous night out or a relaxing night in, celebrate your many successes.
4] KEEP TRACK OF YOUR PROGRESS
If you haven’t invested in a journal yet, we highly recommend doing so! Writing things down can help keep you accountable + give you the extra motivation you need. Sometimes our lives are filled to the brim with school, work + maintaining a social life, so many of our accomplishments get overlooked. By writing things down, even if your day was spent laying in bed + watching Netflix, you’re able to see all that you’re doing + all that you’ve already achieved.
5] TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF
Remember to work on flowing instead of going : ) Being productive is great, but make sure that each week you set aside time for you. Plan a day for yourself that’s filled with your favorite things. We’re often too busy to realize how quickly time is passing. Being #inCHAARG doesn’t mean you have to be constantly working + pushing yourself. It means that you’ve found ways to become the happiest + healthiest version of yourself!
A meaningful message or some kind words can work wonders when you’re feeling down, but remember to start looking towards yourself when it comes to these things. Have your own back + realize that you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to!
