After a killer sweat sesh, our hair needs a little love before we’re out the door + movin’ on with our day! You can use your hair’s natural texture + a few products to create a functional post-workout style that gives you the confidence to go from the gym to any event without a full wash —
1] WASH LESS
Post-sweat sesh hair starts even before you hit the gym! If you shampoo your hair every day, your hair [+ skin!] can dry out, lose its natural shine, ++ become stripped of its natural oils. Wash your hair with shampoo + conditioner around 2-3 times per week to keep your hair moisturized. Try wetting your hair with water after a workout, rather than washing, ++ use a dry shampoo to add a fresh scent.
2] TWIST IT UP
Before you start a sweat sesh, prep your hair with a cute but functional style that can withstand your workout. French // dutch braids keep your hair away from your face + add a beachy wave texture once taken out. Twisty top knots + hair buns add a similar wavy curl to your hair. Let your sweat do the job — the salty water adds texture + sets the waves into place while you work out! If you’re cut even shorter on time, leave your hair in place + touch up the style with hairspray // styling cream to eliminate any frizz.
3] ADD DRY SHAMPOO
Dry shampoo is the ultimate cure for a sweaty scalp because it eliminates moisture, adds volume, ++ leaves a fresh scent. Shake + spray the dry shampoo to your roots, rub the product into your scalp, ++ brush your hair completely. You can use dry shampoo before your workout to allow the product to soak up any sweat along the way. Make sure your hair isn’t damp // wet before using dry shampoo to avoid any clumpy residue.
Blast your greasy roots with a blow dryer after a sweat sesh to add volume + dry extra moisture. Dry your hair upside down with medium // high heat, while lifting at the roots + focusing on the scalp. Once your roots are dry, flip your hair back up + lightly comb out with your fingers or a brush. Spritz your style with hairspray to keep the volume lasting later into the day!
Last, but not least, play with your natural texture + hair type to create an effortless look after a workout! Your sweat works like a sea salt spray because it adds texture, moisture ++ body to the hair. After any dry shampoo or quick blow dry, try using a styling cream or mousse to add extra texture + movement to your hair! While applying any product, twist some sections of your hair to create effortless waves // curls. Finish off with a simple top knot, braid, or ponytail that emphasizes your rockin’ post-sweat sesh hair!
