In our 20s, it’s more important than we may think to begin taking good care of our skin. Creating a skincare routine will keep it glowing, now + for life —
1] DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THE SUN
Even when the sun doesn’t seem to be strong // blaring, it’s still important to layer on the SPF. UV rays are damaging year round [not only during the summer!], so make sure to apply at least SPF 15 daily. You can find this protection in certain moisturizers or foundations, too, so no excuses to not include it in your daily makeup routine!
Exfoliation removes dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, which unclogs your pores to expose the fresh cells beneath. Despite how great it is for your skin, you don’t want to go overboard, either. Exfoliating once a week should do the trick to keep your skin feeling fresh without causing any dryness // irritation.
3] DRINK LOTS OF WATER
Drinking water is beneficial to everything in the body, including the skin! Lack of hydration can cause dry, flaky skin. This can be prevented by drinking water or applying moisturizer to the skin daily [especially after the shower when the pores are open].
4] TAKE OFF YOUR MAKEUP, ALWAYS
We get it — sometimes after a long night the last thing you want to think about doing is wiping off your makeup before jumping into bed. However, it’s crucial if we want to take the best care of our skin. The chemicals from makeup can cause acne, wrinkles, + block the natural moisturizing secretions from our skin. Eye makeup can very easily cause eye infections // irritation, too, so don’t forget!
5] CLEANSE WITH TONER
Washing your face daily removes the impurities, dirt, ++ build up that our skin accumulates during sleep // a long day. Toner will remove any excess oils + dirts left behind after cleansing, while also soothing the skin // removing harsh redness.
Take the time to develop a skin care regimen that works for you. You deserve to #treatyourself + feel beautiful in your skin!
