We live in a world constantly edited by Photoshop to cover any flaws. It’s so hard to be confident in yourself when you compare yourself with others, especially women who are famous, but there are several celebrities that actively work to empower women. Through their influence, they help women increase their self-esteem, body image, + promote strength + #GIRLPOWER. They show us that everybody is beautiful in their own way + that we should embrace all aspects of ourselves. These women are true inspirations + without a doubt *ah-mazing*–
1] LADY GAGA
After being criticized during her Super Bowl performance for not being thin enough, Gaga posted a powerful message to her Instagram — *I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I’m proud of my body + you should be proud of yours too. No matter who you are or what you do. I could give you a million reasons why you don’t need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, + be relentlessly you. That’s the stuff of champions. thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys. Xoxo, gaga*. Thank you for being so empowering + teaching us that no matter what others say, we need to love ourselves, always.
2] CHRISSY TEIGEN
Chrissy always keeps it real with us, + that’s one of the many reasons she is so amazing. She doesn’t touch up her photos, especially the ones showing off her sexy stretch marks! Chrissy insists that women love their bodies just the way they are — flaws + all. You go girl!
3] ISKRA LAWRENCE
Iskra is a model that doesn’t use Photoshop in any of her pictures — say what?! She is also a huge advocate of prevention against eating disorders. Iskra isn’t afraid to post photos of herself eating — she likes to enjoy herself + not get caught up in the idea that you need to be thin to be beautiful. #Everybodyisbeautiful + Iskra makes sure to let her fans know this every day.
4] SELENA GOMEZ
Selena Gomez experienced hate after gaining some weight + posting pictures of herself in a swimsuit on Instagram, but instead of letting it get to her, she decided to post more photos of her body, + captioned them, *I love being happy with me y’all.* She teaches us that no matter what we hear from others, we can’t let it get to us. We need to be more confident + show them that we don’t need reassurance from anyone except ourselves. Our happiness within is what is most important.
5] RACHELE BROOKE SMITH
Rachele Brooke Smith is a dancer that has been traveling to several CHAARG chapters across the nation. She has a clothing line called *Be Disruptive* that inspires women to go against everyone telling them that they can’t do something. We need to disrupt the negativity in our lives, coming from both ourselves + those around us, because it only holds us back. If we fail, we have to keep going + work on how to be better. If she is coming to your university + you have the opportunity to attend her workout, please try to make it — you won’t regret it!
Thank you, ladies, for being such inspirations in a world that can be so negative at times. We encourage you to take a look at their social media pages to obtain more inspiration from them. You are all so beautiful — flaws + all. Nobody is perfect, but you can work on being the best *you* out there.
