Living in the generation of technology can make us avoid being outside more + more. This can negatively impact our health, both mentally + physically. Nature is so beautiful, + we should embrace every opportunity to enjoy it. Whether it’s cold or warm outside, we encourage you to increase the amount of time you’re outdoors. Being immersed in nature has so many benefits — take advantage of all that it has to offer : )
1] IMPROVES MOOD
Stepping outside + embracing nature has been shown to boost mood. It’s no coincidence that the *winter blues* occur in the winter — you aren’t able to go outside as much, which significantly affects your mood.
2] DECREASES STRESS
If you’re having an overwhelming day, the simplest way to *destress* is to go outside, even for a few minutes! Take in the beautiful views + sounds, + allow yourself to let all your stress go. Nature is a relaxing place that helps you to be mindful, present, + relaxed.
3] GETS YOU MOVING
When you’re outside, you have the tendency to move more. You can go for a run, pass a soccer ball with friends, bike, or walk around + take in the scenery. No matter what you decide to do, being outdoors will get you more excited to be active, which is great for your health! Next time you decide to sweat it out, take it outdoors ; )
4] BOOSTS YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM
Being sick is one of the worst feelings ever — ain’t nobody got time for that! We rely on our immune systems to protect us from colds, the flu, + other infections, ++ they can be strengthened with outdoor exposure. When outdoors we are exposed to more germs, but in small amounts that won’t get you sick. Your body can produce antibodies to prepare your immune system for future germ exposure — like when you get sick!
5] GIVES YOU SOME VITAMIN D
Many doctors have noted that nowadays, people are not getting enough Vitamin D. With our busy lives, it can be difficult to get outside, but we should try to incorporate it into our schedules in order to get some Vitamin D! Your skin will definitely be thanking you : )
