Summer + sunshine are finally here ++ with that comes the usual flood of posts on social media centered around gettin’ that *beach bod* [we see you #CHAARGBOOTYCAMP ; )]. Maybe your goal is to put on some muscle//lose fat so you feel confident rockin’ your fav summer gear + that is totally okay. But far too often we are guilty of using our #sweatsesh as *punishment* for eating a frosting-covered donut or ordering an extra round of mimosas at brunch [worth it ; )]. It’s time to rid ourselves of negative self-talk + #RadiatePositiveVibes during our gym time. Here are a few tips to keep your workouts *body-positive*.
TAKE WEIGHT OUT OF THE EQUATION //
Weight is just a number + we should know by now that those digits are not the sole determinant of our health. While it’s easy to fall back into the *I need to run X more miles to burn off that donut* mindset, we should instead focus on the many other benefits of exercise. Bad day at work? Go sweat out those frustrations in the weight room. Feeling gloomy? Grab some dumbbells + take it outside for an instant mood booster. There are so many great reasons to exercise + your favorite doesn’t have to be physical : )
MAKE YOUR WORKOUTS FUN //
Uhh — isn’t this why we all love CHAARG in the first place?! Working out doesn’t have to be a *chore* — you should look forward to your #sweatsesh, not dread it. Text your #CHAARGie + head to your favorite spin class or get out + try something completely new. By bringing enjoyment back into your routine you’re much more likely to stick with it. What are you waiting for?! Get out there + *find your fit* — whatever that means to you!
COMPLIMENT THOSE HARD-EARNED #GAINZ IN THE MIRROR //
You just finished your best set ever on the squat rack. Before you head over to the next piece of equipment stop + give yourself a little love. Look at yourself in the mirror + tell your body how proud of it you are ++ maybe snap a selfie [with the hashtag #BeyonceBooty of course!] ; )
THANK YOURSELF FOR GETTING TO THE GYM //
At the end of yoga class my instructor almost always says *thank yourself for coming to your mat today.* Why should going to the gym be any different? Even if your workout was twenty minutes long — appreciate the simple choice you made to live a healthy lifestyle. You came. You sweat. You conquered. ++ a little thank you goes a long way!
MAKE YOUR WORKOUT ABOUT *YOU* //
*Comparison is the thief of joy.* Your workout is for you + you alone — it’s not to get that Instagram model aesthetic or look hotter than your ex’s new fling. Your only competition is yourself, so strive to be better than the woman you were yesterday. This is your *me-time* — be selfish about it!
