Now that the summer is coming to an end, it’s time to pack up + head back to campus. If you’re living in a dorm room [or lets be real — even a college apartment], you know those drab walls could use some help. You may not be thrilled to hit the books once again, but a new school year + a new room means you have the opportunity to decorate. ++ what better way to decorate than to *CHAARGify* your room!? So, we’re sharing a DIY Bolt Banner that’s super easy to make + is perfect for bringing positive vibes to your space!
CAUTION: You’ll be finding glitter in random places for the next few days… but who doesn’t want a lil’ extra *sparkle* in their life? ; )
Glitter [I used gold + CHAARG blue : )]
1 small + 1 large CHAARG Bolt Stencil [I googled *CHAARG bolt*, printed the images, + cut them into stencils]
Scissors or Box Cutter
Twine [or any strong string]
1] Cut out your stencils + use them to trace bolts onto the cardboard. [The width of your banner will depend on how many bolts you cut out — we recommend 7-10!]. Cut out the cardboard bolts — scissors work well, if your cardboard is *thicker*, you may want to try using a box cutter.
2] Squeeze the glue into a small bowl + use a paintbrush to cover one side of a bolt with a thin layer of glue.
4] After applying the glue, sprinkle on the glitter [we recommend doing this over a bowl to help contain the mess ; )]. Shake to remove any excess glitter + set aside to dry — it’ll take about 10-15 minutes. Repeat this step for each of your bolt cut-outs.
5] When all of your bolts are dry + *sparkly*, use a pin to create 2 holes.
*Pro Tip* — You want the holes to be small,so that the string fits snuggly + the bolts don’t slide toward the center of the banner!
6] Lastly, thread the string through each of your bolts, spacing them evenly, + choose the perfect spot to hang ‘em up + *CHAARGify* you room!
