January may be almost over, but its not too late to create a bucket list! The #YearOfTheBolt is going to be our best year yet! Creating a bucket list can often feel like writing out a list of fantasy goals that might feel overwhelming to actually accomplish. We’ve got 11 amazing months left in this year + we’re sharing 11 bucket list challenges to help you make the most out of 2015. Use each month as a chance to take on a challenge + work towards becoming an even happier + healthier you!
1] SIGN UP FOR A RACE YOU HAVE NEVER RUN!
Whether you’ve never run a road race before, or you’re a queen of the streets — this is a perfect opportunity to challenge yourself! Train for a new distance, aim for a PR, or use your race as a way to visit a new city! Always wanted to get into swimming or cycling? Sign up for a triathlon! Most races allow you can participate as a team — a perfect way to meet some new CHAARG girls! Not sure what race to sign up for? Check out these 10 must-run races this spring!
2] COMMIT TO MAKING EXERCISE A PART OF YOUR DAY.
Including a #sweatsesh into your daily schedule can give you a major happiness boost, but it can have countless other benefits! Exercising out of respect + love + appreciation for what you can do will help you to grow in ways you never thought possible! What better way to begin tackling those fit goals than to sweat + be inspired right alongside hundreds of CHAARG girls right!? *hint hint — the CHAARG Spring Break FitPlan starts soon ; )*
3] RUN [WALK, CRAWL, SKIP — ANYTHING TO MOVE!] OUTDOORS EVERY MONTH.
Through this past month’s runCHAARG challenge we have learned that we are unstoppable! We have conquered rain, snow, ice, sub-zero temps + countless other obstacles! You can accomplish anything you set your mind to! This is a perfect way to get + stay in the habit of movin’ + a great way to explore your own city! Commit to logging 20 miles on your Nike+ App every month — that’s only 1 mile a day, 5 days a week! There’s also a *challenge* feature on the Nike+ App that allows you to start a running challenge with others — this is a perfect way to meet CHAARG girls + hold each other accountable! Start a challenge within your chapter : )
4] CREATE A NEW ROUTINE.
This community overflows with positivity + this amazing support can help you overcome any habit you want to finally conquer. It can be overwhelming to try + think of changing your routine in a grand scale, but creating smaller goals can help this seem much more reasonable. We all have a list we’d like to work on + committing to tackling one of those goals per month is a great first step! Start by choose a goal you’ll be able to measure + record your progress through. Want to spend more time doing what you love — like reading for fun, painting, or playing an instrument? Commit to spending a few minutes a day//week on your activity + record your progress in some way. Whether you keep track in a journal or create our own resolutions chart [have you read The Happiness Project yet? Its *amazing*!] having a way to reflect on your progress will help you to adjust your practice for the future.
5] BEGIN PRACTICING GRATITUDE + LOOK FOR THE POSITIVE IN EVERY SITUATION.
Expressing gratitude focuses positivity on the wonderful things already present in your life! Practicing gratitude can help you to see both your small accomplishments + the positives that can result from challenges. Finding positivity can help you to feel refreshed + at your best to take on any challenge again! An easy way to begin practicing gratitude is to pair it with something that is already part of your day. Do you start each morning with a cup of coffee? Use the time when you are enjoying your warm cup to focus on a list of things you are thankful to have in your life. Tying a new habit to an existing routine will make it easier to stick to your new practice!
6] DISCOVER A NEW PASSION FOR FITNESS.
Feeling stuck in your workout routine is boring + makes it tough to notice your improvements. Be brave + sign up for that class you’ve always wanted to take + make exercise fun again! Whether it be boxing, barre or yoga — this is an opportunity to find a new fit + who knows, you could just discover something you love. After all, this is what CHAARG is all about!
7] MAKE A RECIPE FROM THE CHAARG BLOG.
YUMM. What CHAARG girl doesn’t love to eat!? Head over the EAT section of the blog + prepare to be inspired by all the healthy [+ sometimes not so healthy ; )] recipes! Our current favs: Mexican Sweet Potato Soup ++ Chai Tea — The CHAARG Blend ++ Peanut Butter Mug Cake!
8] INSPIRE SOMEONE TO JOIN THE MOVEMENT.
2015 is your year to become more confident in who you are + to grow the love you have for yourself! You only get one you + it’s time to start showing yourself the love you deserve! Every choice you make is a chance to act out of respect for prioritizing your health + happiness. We are challenging you not only empower yourself, but to inspire someone to get #inCHAARG of their life + join the movement.
9] TREATE YOURSELF FOR ALL THE HARD WORK YOU HAVE BEEN PUTTING IN.
As college students, or post grads, it can often seem like we are always tackling major to-do’s. Its important to balance all the work you’ve been putting in with things you love. Spend a day making memories by taking a mini roadtrip, buy that *necklace* that you’ve had your eyes on, have a special dinner + indulge with some dessert. Anything to celebrate life! Rewarding yourself with the little things is important, but sometimes you need to splurge + go big! Plan that dream trip abroad + go out + live an adventure to remember or *finally* treat yourself to that something you’ve dreamed about for months. Allow yourself to enjoy your splurge — you work your booty off + you are worthy of great reward!
10] VOW TO MAKE THIS YOUR CHANCE TO CONQUER A FEAR.
Decide on tackling a fear that impacts your daily life — something small, but still meaningful. We all have things we are scared of + part of what makes us human is being vulnerable! But we also have an amazing community filled with encouragement + inspiration! This is your year to own your fears, replace them with positivity + take charge your life! Have you feared the weights in the gym because you only knew a few exercises? Have you avoided an exercise class because you’d be a beginner + you think you’d look silly? Have you feared telling your boss your great idea because you worry that they might not love it? Forgive yourself for having fears, they’re normal + we all have them!
11] START A DAILY PRACTICE + RECORD YOUR YEAR AS A JOURNEY.
Practicing something for a few minutes every day is a great way to watch yourself grow over the course of a year! Work on your flexibility through stretching, get into photography by taking a picture everyday, start a journal you’ll be able to look back on — the possibilities are endless!
