Everybody reaches points in their lives when all motivation is lost, but using a detox diet to get back on track isn’t always the best idea, mainly because they are known to be unhealthy. Luckily, there are many other small changes you can make to help you get back on track with your goals + stay healthy at the same time!
1] GET AT LEAST 8 HOURS OF SLEEP
Getting enough sleep is one of the most important ways to stay healthy + functioning! Sleep is proven to boost your mood, but that’s not its only benefit — feeling rested allows you to go about your day with less stress. In addition, you’re able to function + be more productive so that you have time to relax +//or get your workout done for the day. There are even studies that show the more sleep you get, the longer you live!
2] WAKE UP EARLY
Waking up early can be really hard, but it leads to increased productivity + optimism. By waking up early, you are giving your body time to wake up + prepare itself for the day ahead. You can plan out your day, prepare a nutritious breakfast, + take some time to yourself. One of the hardest things is waking up + going straight to class or work — it is almost impossible to pay attention or stay awake. So next time you feel like snoozing your alarm, think about all that you can achieve by waking up early!
3] EAT BREAKFAST
People aren’t kidding when they say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Starting your day with a nutritious meal helps you maintain a healthy weight. Eating breakfast fuels your body + helps you concentrate. It also helps you with your eating habits for the rest of the day — if you don’t eat breakfast, you will get hungry + be more likely to eat junk food in order to satisfy your hunger. Eating breakfast energizes you, so you are also able to perform workouts at your maximum potential. Anything from eggs, toast, or oatmeal are great options to jump-start your day!
4] CLEAN YOUR LIVING SPACE
When your living space has clutter, it can get pretty taxing. Studies show that clutter causes people to stress more + waste more time trying to find their items [leading to even more stress!]. Take a day to de-clutter your living space — it will help you feel more relaxed. If you feel like you don’t have time to clean out your place, take it little by little. Pick certain rooms//sections to clean on different days so that you don’t spend all day de-cluttering. Although it may be frustrating + tiring at first, it will be worth it in the long run.
If you’re feeling stressed, meditation + yoga are great practices to help manage that. Meditation + yoga give your brain a chance to relax + take a break from the stresses of life. Through these practices, you can learn to be more mindful + live in the present. Yoga is also a great workout — it is great for toning your body + stretching.
6] DRINK TEA
There are so many benefits of drinking tea — it contains antioxidants, protects bones, helps battle cancer, boosts your immune system, + helps regulate the digestive system [to name a few]. It also tastes amazing + there are hundreds of different flavors + varieties.
7] TAKE A SOCIAL MEDIA DETOX
Social media is a great way to stay connected to friends + family. It’s even a place where support + positivity can be spread to others [like the CHAARG support system :-)]. Social media is honestly so great, but sometimes it gets to the point where it can be too much. How many times have you found yourself scrolling through your newsfeed for countless minutes or hours? It wastes time + leads to a loss of motivation. It is great to stay connected to people that you cannot see often, but talking to people face to face is much more fulfilling. Take a break from social media — meet up with friends for a cup of coffee or lunch. Take a walk outside + take in the beauty of nature. Detach yourself from the rest of the world for a little. It is such a refreshing feeling.
