Summer may not *technically* begin until June 20, but it’s finally getting warmer outside + that means a time of transition for many of us. Whether it’s finishing a semester, graduating, moving to a new city, or simply looking for a new outlook on life — this is the perfect time to get into a new routine.
This season is all about finding a balance between working hard + playing even harder. You may have goals to accomplish this summer [like marathon training or money makin’!], or you may be itching to travel [can we come?!]. No matter what your summer may involve, here are a few ways to make the most out of the season of sunshine:
#1] CREATE A SUMMER BUCKET LIST
There are a million summer bucket lists on Pinterest — make your own! By setting goals, you’re not only making an implicit promise to yourself to tackle them, but you’re able to make a game plan to conquer them. I always strive to do something new at least once a month, whether it’s trying a different fitness class, eating at an exotic restaurant, or visiting a new neighborhood. Set goals with some friends, but also be willing to embark on solo adventures.
#2] CHECK IN WITH YOUR 2016 FITGOALS + MAKE NEW ONES
Somehow we’re almost halfway through the year already, so now is a good time to reflect on your 2016 resolutions. Are you where you had hoped? Do you think you should update your FitGoals? Whether it’s training for a race or taking your workouts outdoors, don’t be afraid to get creative with your FitGoals. Make this the summer of the best YOU yet!
#3] ESTABLISH A MORNING//AFTERNOON//EVENING ROUTINE
Time management can be a tricky balance when we’re all super busy, but establishing a routine truly keeps you productive + efficient while managing all of those incredible goals you’ve set. Split up your days into morning//afternoon//evening + decide what you want your average day to be like. Whether you’re working as a professional or taking full advantage of your summer *free time*, this is a beneficial approach to conquering your days. Of course, some days will veer from your routine because of spontaneity, but having a typical daily routine ensures you don’t get bored + that you can easily get back *on track* if need be.
#4] SCHEDULE IN FUN
Don’t forget to include time for your fun goals in your busy schedule! It’s always good to prioritize *me-time* + play, but especially don’t forget to #treatyoself during the summer. It may be difficult to make travel plans during transitory periods, but if you don’t plan ASAP, it may not happen by the time September rolls around. Plan now + don’t be afraid of maintaining the balanced CHAARG lifestyle while afoot. Even if you aren’t rollin’ in the dough, now is one of the best times to travel while you have fewer obligations. You can always take a day-cation. Take advantage of it + have a blast!
#5] APPRECIATE EVERYONE
Along the way, don’t forget to value your time with friends + family. If it’s your last summer at home or last few months rooming with your besties, prioritize time to make memories with your favorite people. Life isn’t about things, but the relationships you’ve made. As a VirtCHAARG member, I understand the struggle of not being around a constant chapter support system. Lookout for CHAARGBOOTYCAMP + meetups, ++ don’t be afraid to reach out to another CHAARG girl to keep you accountable as a #BoltBabe over the summer.
What are you most excited for this summer? I can’t wait to be a part of #TeamCHAARG + meet as many new CHAARG girls as possible! Let’s enjoy the sunshine + positive vibes <3
