Some of us start our days the same — we hit snooze one too many times, barely finish breakfast + rush out the door with the overarching feeling of being late. If you’ve found yourself in this type of routine, it may be time to change it up. Here’s how you can learn to *flow* instead of go-go-go —
1] DRINK A GLASS OF WATER
After a night of sleep, your body will be begging you to hydrate it by the time you wake up. Even if you’re not thirsty, it’s important to begin your day with water. Starting your day with a glass of water allows you to wake yourself up + kick-start your metabolism.
2] GET MOVING
Join the #6AMCrew! Wake up your muscles + werk it out : ) You’ve heard the countless reasons why you should workout in the morning, now all you’ve gotta do is drag your booty outta bed + get to it. If a full-on sweat sesh isn’t your style, try starting your morning off with some light stretches or yoga. This gives your body a quick boost of endorphins before you head out for the day.
3] MAKE A WHOLESOME BREAKFAST
Don’t get me wrong, sometimes we need a big plate of pancakes doused in a little too much syrup [if there really is such a thing as too much!]. But, in order to get the most out of your morning, you’ll want to make a breakfast that will keep you full + energized until lunchtime. Skipping breakfast has been linked to a slower metabolism, weight gain + lower energy levels. Be the girl that’s full of energy + ready to go, rather than the girl that’s falling asleep at her desk. From overnight oats to green smoothies, we’ve got you covered when it comes to healthy breakfast options.
4] PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY
Let your mornings be a time to clear your head + get organized. We know your #inCHAARG insta is rockin’, but checking it can wait until after you wake up + get organized. Try putting away all the things that normally serve as distractions, whether it is your phone, your laptop, TV, or even your FitBit. This also allows you to be more mindful + focus on what you want to accomplish that day.
5] CHECK ONE THING OFF OF YOUR TO-DO LIST
If you’re stuck feeling rushed + unproductive in the morning, then this one is for you. Think about what you need to get done + do it. Even if it’s simply taking out the trash, don’t put it off — you’ll thank yourself later! Getting a jumpstart on your chores makes for a productive morning + a less hectic afternoon.
We get it – mornings can be messy + it’s hard to establish a working routine. Still, they don’t have to be! Avoid hitting snooze, make some breakfast + find new ways to be productive. You’ll soon establish a pattern + your mornings will start to flow : )
