#CHAARGBootyCamp is here + we couldn’t be happier about a summer full of sweat! This FitPlan is especially exciting because the workouts can be done anywhere. You could do the workouts in your bedroom in undies [been there, done that — *laundry day woes*], but those workouts sometimes aren’t as motivating. When doing FitPlan workouts we want a workout that is going to ignite a passion for fitness + remind us all why we love to sweat.
At times you might need a quick workout in your room or apartment, or maybe working out in the gym might be easier, but challenge yourself to take your workouts somewhere new this summer. All you need is a set of dumbbells. If you’re not driving you can always do a mini-workout on the way by carrying them : ) Here are a few places you can take a #sweatsesh outside other than your gym —
At least one #sweatsesh a week will be some kind of cardio, so get off that *DREADmill* or stationary bike + onto the pavement! Running is a great way to familiarize yourself with a place, so whether you’re in a new city or want to explore a new neighborhood [maybe even back-roads if you’re from a small town], try to get out of the gym for your cardio. Different apps make it super easy to track your pace + time if you don’t have a watch or fitness tracker ++ you typically run faster without treadmills anyway. Make sure you stay safe + aware at all times because no #sweatsesh is ever worth risking your safety. Map your route before you go + let someone else know you’ll be running ++ when to check-in after your #sweatsesh.
If you’re in your hometown for the summer, try scoping out your high school’s track. If you’re not at home, use your university’s or nearby high schools’ track. You can use the bleachers for stairs + you can focus in on your pace ++ sprints on the track. The field is also a great place for a bodyweight #sweatsesh. Nervous about looking weird on the old stomping grounds? Think about how cool a *twenty-something* sweating it out would have looked to your younger self — do it for her!
Embrace your inner child + make your workout as fun as recess! Not only are the fun colors + pretty park surroundings a nice place to sweat, but you can also easily incorporate playground equipment into your #sweatsesh. Swings can be used like TRX suspension trainers. Try putting your feet on the swing for an extra challenge to your planks + pushups. Monkey bars can be used for pull-ups, dips + hanging knee raises. As always, utilize the benches for box jumps, dips or stretching. Don’t forget to climb up the slide + enjoy the ride down : )
Again, public benches are a great tool to supplement any workout — get creative! Try doing your planks with one or two feet on a tree for a little extra stability work. Find a spot with some shade + tackle any workout — from lifting to yoga. A lot of public parks now have outdoor exercise equipment [pull-up bars, interactive abdominal equipment + training ropes] around running paths across the park. If you don’t have a yoga mat to use you can always use a towel or blanket. The options are endless!
The pool is a great place to score some bolts [many pools have specific adult lap hours if you’re worried about a crowded place], but many pools also have water *weights* to use in the pool. Before you roll your eyes — try doing some jacks in the water + you’ll be working harder than you realize! Plus, each time you get out of the pool it’s kinda like a tricep dip!
No matter where you decide to do your daily #sweatsesh this summer, don’t worry about what you may look like or how others might judge you. Do this for YOU + only you. Be brave + most importantly — have lots of fun!
