We’ve all been there — overeating, but not being able to stop. It’s nothing to be ashamed of — it happens sometimes! Life can be stressful, so we reach for food to make us feel better or we indulge then get distracted with how much we ate. There are healthier ways we can deal with our emotions rather than food, but it’s something many people struggle with. It’s important to learn how to deal with overeating so that you can avoid it before it starts —
1] REMOVE TEMPTATIONS
We all have that one food that once we start eating it, we can’t stop. In order to avoid this, get rid of food that may trigger you to overeat. If it’s not in your home, you’re less likely to over-indulge on it. By initially removing that temptation, the urge to consume that food will slowly start to fade. Once you feel ready, you can re-introduce it into your home + #treatyourself with it in a healthier way.
2] STAY HYDRATED
Sometimes you crave things because you’re not drinking enough water. Next time you get the urge to overeat, ask yourself if you’re really hungry. If you’re not, reach for a glass of water instead of food. Most times, your cravings reflect a lack of water. Make some fruit-infused waters to provide a *kick* to your water routine. Stay hydrated bebe ; )
3] MAKE A LIST OF OTHER THINGS TO DO
To prepare, write down things you can do when you feel like you want to overeat. This can include yoga, meditation, going on a short walk, calling your best friend, taking a warm bath, or anything else you enjoy doing. Replacing the feeling of wanting to overeat with something else that is pleasurable will help you steer away from binging. You can put this into your routine after dinner each night to avoid that *late-night* urge to snack on everything.
4] DESTROY YOUR NEGATIVE THOUGHTS
Many times, we overeating as a form of dealing with our emotions — it isn’t called *emotional eating* for nothing! If you’re feeling down on yourself, try to steer the negative thoughts away. We know it can be difficult, but you can start by complimenting yourself. Remind yourself how beautiful + special you are, ++ that you are one of a kind. Turn your negative thoughts into positive thoughts + your urge to overeat will most likely start to fade. You girls are all *ah-mazing* + we love each + every one of you. Always stay positive + treat yourself with love!
Avoiding overeating can be hard, but we know you can do it. Slowly learn how to avoid your negative thoughts + steer yourself away from the habit. Replacing the bad habit with a good habit will also help you avoid binging while doing something good for yourself + your body. Treat your body with love + respect every day — your body will thank you <3
