Some CHAARG girls can’t wait to hop on the treadmill for a cardio sesh, while others have to drag their feet + spend their mornings dreading it. We get it — sometimes doing the same, typical running routine can be a bit mundane, especially when you’re indoors. Still, cardio is incredibly beneficial + necessary for the body. It helps fight stress + helps maintain strong bone density, among many other physiological benefits. Stepping onto the *dreadmill* doesn’t have to be a dull + tedious chore —
1] CHANGE DIRECTIONS // INCLINE
Running on a treadmill doesn’t have to only be in the forward direction — running backwards, shufflin’ to the sides, lunging, ++ amping up the incline will help werk the booty + other muscles that don’t often get exercised from traditional running.
2] ADD IN HIIT
High intensity interval training [HIIT] entails high intensity movements for short periods of time, followed by even shorter periods of rest. It provides tremendous benefits to the body ++ is most certainly not boring. This workout is perfect for CHAARGies on the go or those who want to fit in a quick but killa sweat sesh!
3] NETFLIX + *RUN*
If you’d rather be watching Netflix in bed while running, you can at least get half of the satisfaction while also working up a sweat. Try playing your favorite show on your phone during your run + placing it on top of the treadmill. Before you know it, you’ll be done with an episode + looking down to see that you even ran a few miles in the process.
4] GET COMPETITIVE
There’s nothing wrong with a little friendly competition! Next time you’re at the gym, try starting your run at the same time as your buddy + race to the finish line [or target distance]. You can motivate each other, get in some laughs while you go, ++ be driven to both give it your all!
Treadmill workouts do not have to be fruitless. Similar to finding your fit ++ motivation for any other workout routine, there are countless ways to reinvigorate a cardio sesh. Spice it up, make it fun ++ reap the incredible benefits of cardiovascular workouts!
