What if you could go on an adventure with your closest Bolt Babes around your chapter’s city, checking off the quirkiest items on your bucket list, being pushed out of your comfort zone while also *doing good* + having the wildest 24 hours of your life? If this sounds like something right up your ally, ya might need a little Questival in your life —
WHAT IS A QUESTIVAL?
The host is Cotopaxi, an adventure gear brand whose main goals are to “move people to do good and inspire adventure.” Questival is the manifestation of these goals — an adventure race in which groups of 2-6 people have exactly 24 hours to complete as many quirky challenges as possible. The challenges fall under all types of categories — adventure + fitness, food, service, + teamwork. Participants have a group page to post pictures // videos of their challenges to caption + post like on a regular social media platform ++ all the other groups look through each other’s pages to rate the challenge posts. In this way, everyone feels a sense of community in completing the challenges together [+ it’s fun to see how creative other people get to complete the challenges!] The point of the Questival is to push you out of your comfort zone to experience your surroundings + have fun // explore with your friends. BONUS: everyone who participates gets a *free* Luxon backpack from Cotopaxi!
WHEN + WHERE CAN I PARTICIPATE?
The *Questival Tour* has stops all throughout the year in cities all over the US [++ even a few in Canada]. Find the stop in your chapter’s city, put together a group of CHAARGies, + adventure on! Even better — plan to have several groups get together to race against each other for the ultimate CHAARG meetup [the more the merrier : )]. Plus, depending on the size of the city, there could be hundreds or even thousands of other *adventure seekers* taking part in the Questival with you!
There are a few sample challenge lists to check out, but every city has similar challenges in the same categories, although the challenges are specific to the location, which is super fun! Adventure + Fitness challenges involve a lot of running, climbing, canoeing, ++ jumping into open bodies of water in various ways… ; ) Community + Cultural challenges are all about doing unique local things like taking pictures with the city murals + visiting historic museums. The Food category has a lot of goofy [+ sometimes disgusting!] challenges involving local restaurants, eating certain foods with hands, + the state // city foods. Quirky challenges are random, fun challenges to do around the city like challenge a stranger to a hula hoop or jump rope contest. Service Environment challenges are where your big hearts can shine + really get a chance to do good by donating money // time to your favorite local charities + picking up trash along a hike. Social Media challenges participants to get certain numbers of likes on tweets and Insta posts [+ of course to follow all of @cotopaxiquestival’s social media ; )]. Survival + Camping challenges include really fun camping activities [some even require another group!] + teaching *survival skills* ++ tying lots of knots! Travel + Hiking challenges involve — you guessed it — lots of hiking + exploring all the wonders of your city. There are also various Festival challenges at the beginning of the Questival, at checkpoints throughout the day, + at the very end, as well as a few *surprise* challenges! Some of these challenges are things you’d never think of doing, so there should never be a dull minute during the Questival. It’s all about community + adventure!
While it can get competitive, the coolest thing about Questival is that it’s all about strengthening friendships, building community, + encouraging each other, all while have an amazing time + being active — creating positive social impact [all things we aim for in CHAARG!]. Not only is Cotopaxi teamed up with a bunch of amazing charities that support health // movement [Educate Girls, International Rescue Committee, + Nothing But Nets], but there’s a whole category of challenges dedicated to *doing good* around your local community. This could be as simple as supporting the local farmers markets // doing a selfless favor for someone to signing up to volunteer at a local charity // picking up trash along a local hiking trail!
If you love adventure, trying new things, making new friends, being pushed out of your comfort zone, doing crazy things in the outdoors, + having fun, start planning a CHAARG meetup to do Questival in a nearby city! It will be so worth it. If you end getting a group together, make sure to share pictures // videos with us of the challenges from your Questival adventures on Insta! Do good, adventure on, ++ radiate positive vibes!
